The general perspective is Germany likes order and following rules more than us. In the case of Microsoft tech support...not true. So my 3-yr old work laptop died and I fixed the hd, reinstalled Windows, but lost my activation code. I am trying to make it legal again and get a "Replacement Activation Code" for Windows. The Microsoft US tech support required things I don't have here (they are in my Boulder office). So I called the German MS support. They didn't ask for anything, except for my name and company...then just gave me a new activation code. shocking....I say. I f!cking love Germany. Except for the lack of Mexican food.
Doesn't surprise me. Once I did a fresh install of WIN 7 Professional on a PC. I had a legal activation key, but apparently it was "upgrade only" activation key, and wouldn't work on fresh installs ( my fault for not realizing) I called Microsoft, and I got through with someone (Wasn't in the States that's for sure), and ten minutes later she gets me a brand new license key for WIN 7 Professional. The other key I had, surprisingly didn't get deactivated either
I had no problem with US tech support when suddenly my laptop was telling me my windows software was not valid. Maybe it has more to do with the individual???
