So the NBA is back, which means we will have a normal draft.

The Draft is one of my favorite events in the NBA. So I wanna hear who ya'll think we should draft this year...

I think we are going to have a top 8 pick this year.

Im hoping for either Harrison Barnes, or Jeramy Lamb.

Buy that could change...

Lets hear it!

WAAAAAAAAY to early to think about the draft, especially when we don't know the roster or how well the team will play.

Never to early to talk about the draft! Whether we have the number 1 pick or the last pick in the draft. It's still wort talking about!

I'll go against what I said before,

If we can't get Drummond, we might be able to get Patric Young, he's a little short, but he's got a decent reach and is a solid rebounder and defender, plus he looks to be a late lotto pick.

In other words, if we get the 14th pick again, we can draft this guy and have a quality defensive frontcourt of him and patterson.

I'm paranoid about this season now and the opportunity to make the playoffs. Any given night the Rockets have a chance to beat anyone else int he NBA. But playing in the Playoffs means we lose out 1st round pick and only have NY's. I guess my view is askew because I have been placing more value in those 2012 picks, as has a lot of people here on the board.

NY will play well this season, and their pick will be worse than 17th (2011 draft) and defintely out of the lottery.

Available at that pick are:
Khris Middleton (SG/SF)
John Henson (PF - 6'10")
CJ Leslie (undersized PF)

This means the only way we would be able to reach into the Lottery is to trade one of our primary pieces - Martin/Scola/Lowry. I don't see that happening unless it means Howard is coming.

I guess what I'm saying is I think we're gonna do battle for the playoffs, and take our chances developing our players with little regard to gathering/trading for 2012 draft assets.

Drummond or Davis would be too good to be true. This draft is deep for small forwards and thats where I think we need to aim.

Look to pick up Fetus Ezelli (defensive minded Center) with a late pick.

Hopefully we end up with a top 5 pick and go after Andre Drummond and then Austin Rivers with the NY pick. An grab another big in Festus Ezeli with an early 2nd round pick.

I have a strange feeling the Knick pick is going to end up good, like maybe #16 or so. If Melo or Amare miss any significant stretch of time the could end up out of the playoffs.

Harrison Barnes please.....

Honestly I don't think we need a top pick in this draft.

We already have our SF backup/mid-starter of the future in C-bud, and we have a really promising All-star quality (maybe not an actual allstar though with all the big names around) PF in PP. MM still needs to be reviewed, but from what I could see from his performance in college (esp. that really nice jumpshot), I think he could be the long term starter at the SF.

Drummond is the only one in the top 5 I'm interested in, and not only is he a lock at the top 3, he's also too raw to be of any use for the next 3-4 years. Come to think of it, it might take longer than that, he's only 18 and centers only start becoming decent once they become 23 or so.

Interestingly enough, that Bradley Beal comment might be spot on. Bradley Beal seems he will be around our range of picks if everything goes as expected (10-20), and he seems another underrated yet solid player. Dude's well spoken, seems mature and usually takes what the D gives him instead of barreling through using his talent, something that will work for him in the NBA. More importantly he's got size and is solid in all aspects of his game, from shooting to D to even creating for others. Right now he's 6'4 1/2, perfect for the SG spot. I hope we get him and complete the PP-MM-BB combo lol.

Doesn't look like we'll have a pick at all...in what promises to be a very deep draft. No matter, because we're not rebuilding at all #exceptwetotallyare

We'll have the Knicks pick, we just won't have our own.

That t-will trade looks worse and worse.

Given our current roster(even with the edition of Dalembert), I don't see us making the playoffs. However I also don't see us getting anything higher then the 12th pick. Which should put us in position to get a guy like Austin Rivers at the very least.

I don't see us making the playoffs with Hill or Thabeet as our starting center. We'll likely have both picks.

Forgive me guys I dont watch college ball at all. Mu question is how deep is this draft for inpact player? I been hearing that a lot of good guys didnt come out, so is it 8-10 deep or deeper? Maybe a heads up on center position too? Thanks

I think we should look to deal martin or scola (preferably martin) for a 2012 draft pick. Play the rookies and hopefully land our superstar in the draft.

Here are some potential suitors:

To Chicago for Asik and Charlottes 1st round

2012 first round draft pick from Charlotte
Charlotte's own 2012 1st round draft pick to Chicago (top-14 protected in the 2012 Draf

To Cleveland for Varejoa and one of their picks

Their own 1st round (have up to 4 1st round picks in total)

2012 first round draft pick from Miami
Cleveland has the right to swap their own 2012 1st round pick with Miami's own 1st round pick. [Cleveland - Miami, 7/9/2010]

2012 first round draft pick from Sacramento
Sacramento's own 2012 first round draft pick to Cleveland (top-14 protected in the 2012 Draft, top-13 protected in 2013)

To Minnesota for a Big and Utah 1st rounder:

2012 first round draft pick from Utah
Utah's own 2012 first round pick to Minnesota (top 14 protected in the 2012 draft and top 12 protected in the 2013 draft)

To Phoenix for gortat and 1st

They their pick and an extra 2nd rounder

To (both martin and scola?) to utah for Al Jefferson and 1st rounder?

2012 first round draft pick from Golden State
Golden State's own 2012 1st round pick to Utah via New Jersey (top 7 protected in the 2012 Draft

Other options are Milwaukee, Toronto and Washington who both have Big men and own their own picks...

Just a thought...

The last one was supposed to be bold and to be to UTAH...they have their own pick if they make the lottery and golden states 1st rounder only top 7 protected
