Broken Blood Vessel in Index Finger?

    I was playing basketball yesterday at the gym (getting eye f'd left and right by the ladies :grin:), went to swipe at the ball and the hit tip of my left index finger on someone's elbow I believe. It hurt like hell, kinda went numb a little while later and I could see it starting to swell up some.

    Now today it bruised up a little more and is pretty purple. I can't bend it all the way like my other index finger. So is this a popped blood vessel? How long does it usually take for it to heal and what can I do about it cause I wanna run a couple of basketball game later this afternoon but wondering if I should?

    Nice one. I use to get a bunch of those when I played ball. Usually lasts like 3 weeks. Hurts like hell.

    Forgot to mention to ice it and tape it up if you want to keep playing with it.

    I got several of those during my playing days. The swelling will go down after a couple of days. It will stay black and blue longer. You can't really hurt it anymore if you want to continue playing.

    Tape that ish and continue to play while screaming "SEE I DO IT LIKE KOBE AND DIRK B!TCHEZ!", that will multiply the eye f'd amount and you'll get street cred.

    I decided just to go yesterday and played with it anyway.. messed up finger and all, no tape... nothing. It actually felt better as I played and some of the bruising went down. Showed the finger to the guys I run with and they thought I was gonna lose too it with the way it looked. But now it actually feels better. :)

    Yeah, tape it, put some ice on it, it's no biggie, you will get lots of those if you play ball a lot.

    One cool thing is, the blood will probably drain down into the rest of your hand, maybe turning half your hand red for a day or so, depending on how bad it was originally.
