As always, no PBP in the thread. If you need that try one of the game cast sites. Keep discussion to this series. If it is not about this series it goes somewhere else.
7-15 Jeff Karstens, RHP (7-4, 2.55) vs. Brett Myers, RHP(3-9, 4.88) 7:05 on FSH
7-16 Paul Maholm, LHP (6-9, 2.96) vs. Bud Norris, RHP (5-6, 3.46) 6:05 on FSH
7-17 Kevin Correia, RHP (11-7, 4.01) vs. Wandy Rodriguez, LHP (6-6, 3.52) 1:05 on FSH

They should play the Women's World Cup Final on the Jumbotron on Sunday. I'd buy good tickets to watch a baseball game and soccer match at the same time.

Please let Brett and Wandy have good starts, 7 inning 2-3 runs type.

Over/Under on Myers HRs allowed tonight: 1.5
Usually I'm the pessimist that takes the over but I'm wild guessing (hoping) that he keeps the ball in the park and has a good start tonight.

Well look at this.....
RT @zacharylevine Astros have Pence-Lee 4-5 in lineup: Bourn, Downs (3B), Keppinger, Pence, Lee, Wallace, Barmes, Quintero, Myers.”
Nice but Kepp batting third is almost as bad as having him bat 5th. Lineup would a lot better with Wallace batting 3rd, Pence, Downs and Lee after him.

Pence just had to slid to avoid hitting the wall down the right field line. Brownie and JD mentioned some outfielder (I didn't hear who they were talking about) that has missed significant time because of a play just like that and it got me to thinking. How putrid would this team be without Pence?
I guess the thought is that they are so bad anyway, it wouldn't make much of a difference, but I think it would. There would literally be zero offensive punch.

Cardinals OFer Jon Jay or Allen Craig(I forget)
Torn on whether or not to trade Pence. Nice guy to have but could be awhile before they're contending(or even good) again.
If they did trade them, not sure I would even have a reaction. As you pointed out, the thought is they are so bad anyways or it couldnt get much worse than it is now. Probably could.

Watching this crap tonight tells me that minus Pence...we would still be a rotting corpse of a baseball team.

Dude has 10 strikeouts tonight...didn't even notice. He needs two more clean innings to really categorize this as a good start.

I see little difference in a team that loses 108 games, and one that loses 115. I dont think any team has lost 120 have they?

I can only take so much of watching Carlos ground out to short or third, Myers give up 1st inning runs and making a good pitcher look like freaking Greg Maddux.

Well, not in the modern era. Detroit lost 119 in 2003, though.

We may have a chance at that if we move Pence & Wandy.

The encouraging part of that Detroit team and also the Arizona team that lost 109 is that they made the playoffs three years later...Detroit made it to the series.

Decent start for Myers...cheapo quality start but did have 11 strikeouts.
