Can you honestly say you're doing what you love? I don't think many people can say that. I bet it's less then 2% of the population. What do you do? What would you LOVE to do? Would doing what you LOVE to do change if the money you made was small? I bring this up because I know someone who is doing just that. She is a zoo keeper. Spent 4 years at Michigan State to get her degree. Now she works with animals and loves every minute of it. It's her life. She has moved to places where she has no friends, no family, nothing... just animals to take care of. And get this, the job pays $7.50 per hour. I find it remarkable because I don't think I could do that, even if I had a passion for that. But I tell her she's lucky, not everyone even has a CHANCE to do what they love, much less go through with doing it.
I can honestly say I love what I do. I'm only 19 years old, only some college experience, and my little internship at an ISP company paid off. Working here full time, and recently learned of a promotion to our sister I.T. company. I've learned so much stuff, and now I manage server clusters and domains for some pretty big clients. My friends in college? Working crappy jobs.
I do like my job, but love? I love that I have work and something to do. My job is very sports oriented and it has given me a chance to travel to other countries which has always been a big dream, so I can say I'm very lucky.
I'm pretty much a trash man, my life sucks I probably make more money playing the stock market and sports betting then I do at work Oh well once I get my degree then I'll be happier
She's probably into that whole bestiality thing. I'm with you Xa, I'm 19 and work on cars at a Collision Repair Facility. Always been around cars, I want to own a shop one day. P.s Are you proud to own an Xa? Those cars are hideous, sorry. Hahaha
I think I can... I spent 4 years at uni doing a degree that I had absolutely no interest in, like most of my friends really because that's just what you're expected to do when you finish high school; go to a good uni, get a respectable degree and start the grind. When I finished the course I decided I really didn't want to be a corporate guy. I had always been a gamer and the coolest job I could think of was to design video games. Well, I enrolled in and completed a games course interstate, got a job and have now been designing PS3, 360 and Wii games for the last 6 years. It's still a job and Monday's still suck...but it's a hell of a lot more fun and interesting than what I would have done otherwise. My ultimate goal however is to start a small studio one day doing my own thing, so that I'll have complete creative freedom to do whatever I like.
I worked doing what i loved and went to UH-CL for a History degree and about 2 semesters shy of graduating I decided I could make more money doing what I love then I ever could with a history degree. I worked for local government for a while and now I work for a huge oil company still doing what I love but making 100k plus a year.. Teaches you hard work will pay off a whole lot faster then a degree sometimes..
Eh...I somewhat love it. I'm a software engineer, and from a technology standpoint, I love what I'm doing. Learning lots of stuff that I always wanted to know more about (developing mobile apps, working on web apps, some database stuff, etc.). My company also has a great work environment and all that good stuff. More like working with friends than co-workers (including the CEO and other executives, who are very approachable). Good pay, decent benefits, etc. Now as for what we work on and the industry we're in...I couldn't really care less. I know others at the company are very passionate it, but it doesn't really interest me at all. Although some of the positive feedback we get from our customers definitely feels good I'll admit. Overall, I'm really happy with my career so far. Sure, would be better if I was working in an industry I was more passionate about, but I think it would be hard to find something that was better than what I currently have.
I also love what I do. It's a work from home doing some SEO, Social media, Administration things. Only downside it's not payed enough here in Macedonia (and eastern europe i think), but hope to learn much more so one day can work for some bigger company and bigger salary of course. Current salary is less than 300$ monthly...
If I could do anything I wanted in life, it wouldn't have anything to do with conspiracies. Maybe a private investigator? Or something with sports, stat keeper, something low key and behind the scenes for sure.
Doing what you love is overrated. My advice to my children will be to get a practical degree so they can earn a decent living and afford to do the things they love in their free time.
Hell yeah, I've always wanted to do health care. I couldn't imagine doing anything else. I don't think I'm ever going to "work" a day for the rest of my life.
i didn't love what i was doing. So I left a good job that pays a lot in a crappy economy to go back to school.. after my MBA, I'm gonna be in a lot of debt and I'm gonna be making about 30% less than I was making before on top of that heavy debt. But it should be worth it because I'll be doing something I either love...or love more than before at least?
I am an elementary school teacher. The job is difficult, the hours are long, and the wages are low (despite what you may have heard on the news). And I absolutely love it. I'd never do anything else.
I really never loved the idea of handling our business and succeeding my father...But somehow i ended up and embracing it. Guess sometimes you get to teach yourself to love something.
I've been lucky to take a hobby/passion and make it my job. I get to work as a musician/entertainer and I can't imagine having a much better job. And I get paid a lot better than I would if I used my Masters degree in Psychology.
