A better player and leader than Shane Battier.

    Bring Chuck back!

No need to get into stats, height or anything else people think Chuck lacks. Chuck Hayes is very important to this team in so many ways. Hopefully the Rockets can sign him too a contract that doesn't hurt the team's ability to make a run at a bigtime FA in 2012.

I just read this article , its obvious the ball is in the Rockets court.

I really hope their signing a broken or limited Yao doesnt force them to let Hayes walk , I'd be highly irritated.

He's the veteran presence in the locker room we need even if we sign a real center. I still think he deserves to be our starting PF anyways but if we move him to the bench as Pat develops he is still easily our team captain.

I agree but he needs to be out there with a shotblocker. It doesn't work with Scola. In fact I would say in spite of Chucks tough play we are the easiest for quick guards to have a field day at the rim. We are pathetic in that area. It is our biggest hole and it need to be filled. Hayes has gone from a borderline NBA player to a Borderling role player to a legitimate bench player. Very solid. But under no wishful scenario would I want Chuck starting.

zSo sign him back he plays with such heart he deserves it. But don't do it with the idea he is our starting center. Barring injury that should not happen next year.

He'll be back. Both he and the organization want him to be a Rocket for life.

I hope the Rockets do sign him up again. Just to add to what mikol13 wrote, Hayes' work ethic and attitude is the foundation of any winning team regardless of his shortcomings.

If the Chuckwagon decides it's about for him to skedaddle and move on further yonder down the trail...DownTownSniper told me he’d return...only this time we shall all bare witness to the calamity of his repression.

Never EVER thought I'd say this... but Chuck should always be on this team for backup reasons.. we kno how to utilize him best and since he wont command an outrageous contract, he gives us the most bang for our buck... nobody in the league has improved as much as chuck and lowry this season.. It's unbelievable..

All the hate on chuck is bs. Those of you who keep saying he belongs on the bench must have just started watching the rockets two years ago. He is NOT a natural center. He has always been a PF on the roster. I think he is our best (not most skilled, but best) overall PF on the roster. He is the only one versatile enough to play center. So he was forced to fill in. Get a shot blocking center, move chuck to PF or let chuck back him up. But don't let him walk cuz he's 6'6. I'm certain him playing center was nowhere in managements plans, but he forced the issue through his performance. I want that kinda guy on the roster.

Chuck continues to get it done, and continues to improve. That should be rewarded.

Chuck needs to be back. I love watching him play. You know the other opponents fear trying to post every time Chuck is out there.

I like that our role players are scrappy and play with some heart.

Lowry, Lee, PPat, Scola, and Hayes are always diving for loose balls and sacraficing their bodies to get a stop. If we can get Yao back to playing 25-30 mins with Hayes backing him up, I would be happy giving him a substantial contract. He deserves it.
