LAS VEGAS - UFC president Dana White reveals Zuffa has purchased Strikeforce. Find out the reason why and the next steps for both the UFC and Strikeforce in an exclusive interview below. http://www.mmafighting.com/2011/03/12/zuffa-purchases-strikeforce/
WOW.. crazy news. so out of the blue too... i wonder how long it will take to see the sf stars (nick diaz, mayhem, mousasi, reem) in the ufc. even with the acquisition, i bet its only a 30% chance we see ever see fedor in the octagon.
HOLY CRAP!!!!! This sucks for Long Term MMA however extremely cool for the Short Term Fan Overall I got to say this sucks though!! however Overeem vs Lesner ahhhhh!!!!
lol. Now we can see who really were the pretenders. I'd also love to see if Overeem shrinks a bit. Great news for MMA.
The UFC has completely taken over and this IMO is great for MMA. I fully expect too see a merger shortly after the showtime contracts expire.
White saying there won't be any 'crossover' between the two. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/mma/post/2011/03/zuffa-buys-strikeforce/1
I'm not concerned in the least about cross promoted super fights. But I fully expect that there will be a merger once showtime contracts expire, and then... This is clearly a move that will benefit the UFC in the future. Why rush anything? It's just not necessary at this time.
If you watch the interview, Dana said that there will be no crossover fights. Dana says that the deal is only to take advantage of the global growth of MMA.
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Thought this was April 1st, this is insane. All Dana has ever done is **** on Strikeforce...this is nuts!
hooooooooolllllyyyyyyy friiiiiiiiickkkkkk apparently SF will still operate as a seperate org CAIN VS OVEREEEM FTW
I like StrikeForce. I like the fact that they put fights on CBS every now and then. That's what went wrong with boxing. They used to show fights on Saturday Afternoons on ABC, right? World title fights, right?
Yea and now they try to make us pay for a Cotto vs. Mayorga fight. Sure it was a good fight from what I hear. But not worth the money.
Is there even a market for Tuesday night fights on USA? The only boxing on tv these days are 80 lb mexicans.
I guess that will depend on how long it takes someone who doesn't understand anti-trust law or the state of MMA in America to file paperwork?
