http://valleyofthesuns.com/2011/02/24/aaron-brooks-vs-goran-dragic/ Don't agree with the final conclusion, but overall I think it's pretty accurate.
So according to this guy dragic is better than brooks in more categories whille its a push on one but brooks is the better player? SMH oh and he got the playmaking thing all wrong so wrong oh so wrong
every comparison was linked to his game vs the spurs. Dragic is not a versatile player. Go ask suns fans.
and 3 pointers lmao? One is a more polished 3 pt shooter and one jumps into his shot? That has to be the most pointless analysis when it comes to 3 pt shooting.
Aaron Brooks: 20 PPG Most Improved Player Goran Dragic: Scored 20+ points four times all of last year
I'd trust my own evalution better than any of theirs. (Thank you League Pass). Dragic is a definite upgrade over Brooks. Dragic will push tempo end to end, is a better finisher around the basket and can pass the ball deftly on a drive and kick. What will frustrate a lot of Rockets fans will be TO's. But the TO's are errors of commission and not omission. He's full-tilt all of the time. IMHO, Euro-JKidd.
Well, If Lowry is going to be our starting PG then this trade is good. Dragic is more of what we need than Brooks. Brooks is better player.. More talented player without any doubt. Dragic is cheap.. most importantly, he is good at transition (Which is what Lowry did and Brooks did not). Having Lee/Bud in the transition is going to be great for our bench. I believe our bench is going to perform better now. He also provides more defense and height than Brooks. So yeah, Brooks is better player but Dragic should be okay off the bench considering he has great bench to work with - Lee/Bud (or T-Will)/Patterson
As true as that statement is - Dragic didn't play starters minutes all of last season either. If he did, he would not have scored 20ppg, but his overall numbers may have been a little more 'gaudy'. In the end, Brooks is an undersized point who has fantastic range, is a volume shooter, and has trouble finishing in the paint. Probably one of the worst (if not the worst) defender at the position in the league. Dragic has legit size, is a more accomplished playmaker - but doesn't have the shooting range of Brooks. A better finisher in the paint, but will rarely ever take over a game with his scoring. But is more likely to pass the ball to (for example) an open Kevin Martin rather than just heaving up another shot himself - even if ice cold! In the end I think we've got the better PG by a long way out of the deal - just the 'career numbers' don't reflect it at the moment.
It comes down to WHAT YOU NEED Brooks was a better scorer . . but we don't need scoring While folx seem enamored with Dragic because of 1 or 5 games The jury is still out on what he CAN be . . . what he *IS* . . . is less than Aaron Brooks. . .AT THIS TIME. [I guess all these Dragic Fans remember Cato's 11 block game too!!] Rocket River
I freely admit not watching a lot of the Suns games on LP, so I don't know a great deal about Dragic. What struck me about getting him is... does this mean we've decided we won't be getting Sergio Llull over here any time soon? I'm a Llull fan.
Just gonna have to WAIT till saturday and SEE..or what not...how things work out or the rest of the season i must say.
We already locked Lowry up long term, so don't see how we could have paid market value for Brooks this offseason. This analysis seems to focus on the offensive side of the court, where possibly you could make an argument for Brooks being a half-notch better. However, when you look at both ends of the floor, it seems that Dragic is the better player overall and has more upside if he can refine his long-range shot. Brooks isn't getting any taller.
The other thing that impresses me from the videos (highlights, granted) is that Dragic seems really good at finishing with either hand. We'll see how he pans out, but I think we may have got ourselves a player here.
