Quote:
"I've always loved to teach,'' Battier said in an interview with FanHouse about what he might do after basketball. "I could see myself as a teacher helping young people in some capacity. ... I've always thought about teaching a life skills class. There's so much common sense that kids never learn these days, like how to balance a checkbook, how to look over a mortgage agreement or an auto lease. ... Teach them skills that would really make a difference in their lives.''
Quote:
"That's typical,'' Houston coach Rick Adelman said when asked about Battier considering being a high school teacher when his playing days are over. "Shane is a unique individual in this league. I'd be very, very surprised if he doesn't do something that's going to benefit everybody else. I keep telling him he'll be president some day. That's just the type of person he is. I think he's really got his head on straight.''
Quote:
"It doesn't surprise me,'' Rockets guard Kevin Martin said of Battier perhaps taking a job such as that for what would be about 1/100th of the salary he's now making. "That shows you what kind of role model Shane is. ... He's smart. He's probably the only guy who can pull off (wearing) khakis anymore. I could see him as a high school teacher.''
*respect*

Kevin is funny.

I really hope we can keep Shane in whatever capacity, even as an assistant coach. He and Chuck embody the character that the Rockets have come to be known for. They are winners.

C'mon, Daryl, make it work.

I meant the Rockets as a team. That is why I didn't highlight "they are"

I know he may not want to leave due to his family situation but the Rox should ask him if he would want to go to a contender like Boston.....He deserves a ring and with that group of Vets in Bean Town I could easily see them takeing the Title....The Rox wont win one anytime soon so why not...?

They could possible get a young player or two in return .....

-Bradley
-A Center AND/OR Pick

IT IS WRITTEN.

Pure class - it's nice to have guys like him to cheer for. Rockets over the years have had some of the classiest guys you could hope for. That's meant a lot to me. I wouldn't be half the fan I am if they were cycling through the Zach Randolph types.

Shane will end up being a Hall of Fame coach in about 40 years.

The biggest compliment I can give to Shane is that I root for him now. I'm a Maryland grad, and if you know anything about the Maryland-Duke feelings towards each other when it comes to basketball, that is a HUGE thing.
