It's date night with the wife and we would like to go someplace quiet for dinner.. but nothing too formal, fancy, or expensive. Ideas?

    (note: she doesn't like seafood)

Central (inner loop, or just outside loop)

Yeah, I really enjoy it. I've been to the one in the Woodlands and also the one on Richmond near Greenway Plaza.

Red Curry and Pad Thai are the only two things I've tried though.

Considering that Tuesday is a pretty off night to go out, I think most everything will be quiet.

Are we looking for a "Tuesday special" type of place or just a good restaurant? What $ per plate range are we trying to stay within. Other than seafood, what are some cuisine preferences?

Just a good restaurant for < $20 a plate. Italian, American, (I had TexMex for lunch, so... not tonight)... Americanized-Chinese food.

Many restaurants have a loud, tile-floor design. We're looking for someplace where we can dine without a noisy atmosphere.

Not sure if you want to try this tonight but if you've never been it's one of the hidden gems in Houston and not far from you.

    http://houston.citysearch.com/profile/9856635/houston_tx/barbecue_inn.html

Its a little diner that has been serving the same menu since the 40's and is family owned and operated. Most waitress' are older than our moms.

Great Fried Shrimp, Great Fried Chicken (cooked when you order so menu says to allow 20 minuets to table) Good Steaks and CFS. Good BBQ but I can never get past the Fried Shrimp to order BBQ. Great home cut french fries.

I've been eating here my whole life and it's one of 2 places I have to go when I come back to Houston to visit.

We go to Damians on our anniversary, so it's a little to upscale for just a Tuesday night date night.

    Vinecent's like?

I tried going to the one in Sugar Land and we caught them while they had their mid-day close for a couple of hours. Why do they do this?

Nick's Italian Restaurant has a nice ambiance at night. The food is awesome and authentic. The price is less than $20.00 a plate, but it can get pricey.

You have to drive out there though, it's on FM 1464 and West Airport. But it's good

Thank you, but it sounds like it's a bit out out of the way

Thanks. She'll eat Thai food, but it's not at the top of her list.

La Vista is a nice, intimate place where I took my gf last time she was in town, and we both had a great time. Food is good, reasonably priced, and it's BYOWine. There is a Rice Epicurean right next door, so you can kill time while you wait for your table by picking out a nice bottle of wine.

If you like Persian food, try Kasra. It is on Westhiemer and Gessner next to Yao's
