only one guy on that list might be available and that is chris kaman. Others are n/a or dont want. You forgot to put down Dalembert on that list, he's the most probable.

I have a strange feeling that Kendrick Perkins could become available.
Dalembert would be a good fit, as would Okafor. Brook Lopez maybe available at right price.

Its really really hard to get a big guy who can score, defend, pass and posses atheletcism to go along with good IQ all at the same time. And someone who is healthy as opposed to being injured all the time. The only guy who fits this bill is D.Howard. Most of the other bigs will only have 1 or 2 of those qualities.
I would like someone who can average around 15 PPG, 10 RPG, 2 BPG and be a serious enforcer at the same time as well. I think guys like Oakafor and NeNe have that potential. Those guys would be sweet if we can trade for them.
Whereas I think Chandler, Perkins and D.Jordan can only score from putbacks and dunks. Dalmbert, Camby and Varejao fall into this categfory as well..
I think M.Gasol would be that perfect balance where he will score and defend the rim. He just doesnt tht explosiveness or ateleticim but you cant have evrything.
So my ideal picks are Oakafor, M.Gasol or D.Howard. NeNe is too injury prone for me to extend his contract with us.

Only about 6 or 7 of these guys is actually possible of getting.
Okafor
Nene
Varajeao
Mohammed
Biedrins
Camby
Haywood
Of those? Only 4 of them are good enough and young enough for us to want to get.
Okafor
Nene
Varajeao
Biedrins
The guy we keep mentioning Dalembert is garbage. Plain and simple.

We can get Dally for the minimum after Sacramento buys him out. And he'd be a bargain at the minimum.
Kaman can be gotten. I would bet Hill/Jeffries gets it done.
Nene is possible in a huge Denver/Houston/whoever else trade.
Gortat is not on the list but something tells me either him or Robin Lopez is available.
Some of the rest aren't even healthy. Varejao, Camby.

Now we have to build a team that can beat the Thunder, Lakers, and Heat.

I have been on this bandwagon for a while now (even the exact same trade J. Hill and J. Jefferis). I have even posted it in a few threads...glad to see I am not the only one who would be willing to roll the dice on Kaman.

Okafor would be the best overal and the best fit, from the ones that are more realistic options to be gotten...
Rockets has a ton of assets to convince the Hornetts to let Okafor go....for them he's not a great fit, and is extremdly overpaid....so they'd accept salary fillers (better if they're expiring) plus some young player...and perhaps a pick, in extreme case....
Okafor would be an INSTANT improvement for the current Rockets....

The Hornets are an excellent defensive team. Emeka Okafor is a very good defensive Center.
How is that not a good fit?

I'd be happy to get Okafor, and one other from that list. Then we can stop playing people out of position.

I think we need to be going after Okafor. Yes he's only 6'10". Yes he has a pretty hefty contract. But you know what you are going to get out of him from game to game. He's consistent, he's not injury prone, and he's one of the best front-court defenders in the league. He's also one of the best rebounders in the league. He's averaging a double double with about 2 block shots per 32 minutes. He's exactly what this team needs. It seems to me Scola's and Okafor's games would compliment eachother. If we could find a way to get more consitency out of our 3 and 1 positions, we'd be in business.
The real question...can Okafor be had? would the hornets deal him?

Okafor or Nene would be great for us. Especially Okafor for his defense.
Maybe Haywood, the others don't see too intriguing or are going to make alot difference.
Gortat is a pretty good choice, as well. Especially, if he is still grumbling about Phoenix.
OT: I was one of the biggest Ariza critics on the board, we should not have traded him . . . given everything that has gone down. Now we need small forward, essentially.
