[contract extension] What is the big deal about Peyton Manning?

    The guy never wins the big game, and for much of his career was seen as a choke artist. His lone superbowl win was one of the poorest performances by the opposing team, seattle and the refs basically handed him that game, he wasn't directly responsible for the win.

    Why is he worth all of this money exactly?

    He has not been on great teams. He has won how many division titles in a row? 12 or something? All he does it win. He never gets injured. He's one of the faces of the NFL. First ballot HOF. One of the top 5 QB's of all time.

    Is this thread serious?

    Lebron James is such a scrub. I mean he can't even win a single championship.

    Colts w/o manning = cavs w/o lebron.

    Odd, given that they beat Chicago to win the Superbowl.

    How much would you pay for the Texans to make the playoffs a record 8 years in a row or whatever they have done?

    Odd, I'm not a texan fan.

    But yeah goofed on the actual team but regardless, 5 turnovers by chicago in that game and what I remember most about it was the fact that the team peyton was playing against put no pressure on manning because they kept turning the ball over.

    Well, if you're an NFL fan, you'd know that most teams would pay a lot of money for a guy that can basically single-handledly get them to the playoffs every year.

    You also remembered that the refs gave them the game, which oddly was what people argued happened in the Steelers / Seattle game - so I'm not sure how much this all is worth. Besides which, I don't see why that's a negative for Manning. Most Superbowl winners have good defenses that make big plays. The game right before (38-34 vs the Patriots) was one of those big games than Manning apparently never wins, except that he did.

    Peyton has a bad season and all of the haters come out of the woodwork. If you take Peyton Manning off of the Colts how many games do you think they would win? My guess is they would have a top 5 draft pick.

    Peyton Manning is consistently one of the best quarterbacks in the league and will go down as one of the greatest ever to play the position.

    Peyton Manning - best regular season QB in the NFL.

    Playoffs, still top 5 but other overtake him in terms of "clutch"

    Must be selective memory. The Colts trailed the Pats 21-6 at halftime of the AFC championship game. Most people, myself included, thought they were dead. Manning led the Colts on a very impressive long drive late in the game to take the lead.

    Clearly you have an ax to grind against Manning because your points are complete nonsense.

    If he leaves that team, they will be completely useless.

    I like how people deride Manning as "not a big game quarterback", yet no one brings up the fact that since 2005, Tom Brady's 5-5 in the playoffs with 18 TDs and 16 INTs.

    Peyton Manning's one of the best QBs who's ever played the game. Of course he's worth the money.
