How are Williams and Jeffries a "F"? Williams has been playing pretty well when he gets the minutes and so does Jeffries.

I was wondering the exact same thing myself. At the very least, give Williams an "incomplete."

Morey - Incomplete, Yao and TMAC handicapped him and T-Will seems like a decent start to makeup for it. Give me the deadline before smashing him, sense there haven't been many deals outside of Orlando/Phx/Wash go down yet.

Adelman - C+ Tough job trying to mesh all these pieces together and again Yao truly handicapped him as well.

AB - C- Injuries have messed with him and never given us a true look at his game this season.
Lowry - B Looks to have improved his game over the summer.
Ish - B Don't have much on him but does look to have potential.
Martin - B+ Can't play "D" but we already knew that and has stayed healthy while his numbers have increased.
CLee - B+ Dude has been great so far just need to make your free throws bro.
Battier - C+ Obvious his decline has begun, defense is a step slower but still above average and can hit the 3 ball...can do very little else.
Bud - C- Shooting well again but horrible slump to start the season and his defense might be worse then last year.
T-Will - incomplete, not enough to go by, yet.
Scola - B- Great start to the season but has slumped and energy isn't what it has been. Still can score, rebound well and provides leadership.
PPat - B+ Surprise player so far with Lee, wasn't expected to get much time but injuries have opened the door. Needs to rebound better and start posting up some.
JHill - C+ Started off the bench well but has sense been horrible as a starter. Need to provide energy and hustle but can't do it consistently...tease.
Hayes - A- Dude has worked hard to improve, not as bad a liability as before and learned how to shoot free throws with rock solid "D".
Yao - F Biggest disappointment so far.
Miller - B- He has done with he was brought here to do, shoot and pass. Can't rebound or defend well anymore.
JJ - B- Dude can't see floor, might have helped earlier in the year when it mattered.

why is budinger receiving a higher grade than morey? If we rate morey low because he has not pleasantly surprised us with any major upgrades, I would argue budinger has so far disappointed much more...

    Personally...

Morey C+ (his signing and trades are generally reasonable - anyone still complaining about lowry's contract or the ariza trade? - but he has to take some penalty for the teams perfomance so far)

Adelman C+ (while it's his philosophy to let players play, too much late game broke downs seems to be indicating too much of a free hand some times)

Lowry B+ (got a big contract, and proceed to earn every penny of it)
Martin B (does everything we want/expect him to do, but has not surprised us too much either)
Scola B+ (I would have given him the only A- of the team a month and half ago, but it seems the summer basketball is catching up to him after all... :( )
Jordan Hill C (flash of brilliance mixed with head scratchers)
Miller C+ (whatever he doesn't do at his age, he makes up for it for being the on court coach and helping JH to grow. -- contract still feeling a bit large tho)
Chuck Hayes B+ (I wish we could have a star player to make chuck play less, but there really is not complaints whenever he plays)
Brooks B- (hasn't been playing too bad, but definitely is somewhat overshadowed by Lowry's performance)

    Morey D+?

Its not his fault that Yao Ming cant stay on the court and he did a great job building around Yao for this season. Look how good our supporting cast is but Yao had to go down again.

Chuck Hayes has actually become a very capable offensive player when needed and is shooting 76% from the free-throw line this year. His defense, as usual, is top-notch. He deserves nothing less than an A.

morey - C (morey has the same intentions as most fans do--we need a superstar--and he's trying hard to land one, but is just not getting it done. not really his fault since the stars he tried to target already have a team in mind. nevertheless, it's about results. but he gets a C for effort)

adelman - C (defense is just terrible. we can use the size argument, but under a defensive type of coach, they can make use with anything. he has to be able to provide minutes to the young big guys and let them develop their defense. and coming into the season, kevin martin says he would play defense more. and yet he hasn't played a lick)

kmart - B- (great offense, terrible defense. balance each other out.)
    scola - B (great offense, mediocre/terrible defense.)
lowry - B+ (he's been our best all-around player. offense remains inconsistent, but always brings the passing, hustle, and defense. we need more players like him if we want to bring a great team back again)
battier - B- (started out ridiculously terrible, but picked things up late. defense definitely is slipping and i still believe he should not play more than 20 mins a game.)
brooks - C (injuries, inconsistent scorer and is a jumpshooter.)
    hayes - B
budinger - C- (picked things up late, but is starting to play like kmart. when on, can provide good jumpshooting. but defense is pathetic. my grandmother can play better D than cbud)
hill - C (flashes of good play, balanced out by inconsistent play)
Lee - B+ (good off the bench. i like this pick up)
Miller - C+ (i guess he does ok on offense, but just terrible on defense)
patterson - B (needs more PT.)
T-will - B (looks promising from what i have seen. can be a very good all-around player, the type of player we need more of)
Yao - I (career is probably over)

    rest who cares.

any sane NBA observer would know yao can't stay on the court and be healthy anymore even before the season started. it's common sense. and GMs are graded on bringing stars in, not role players.

again, it's hard to know whether morey is forced to build around yao b/c of les' hesitation to let him go.

however, now we know that is not the case. yao is on the block. but teams just aren't biting.

    Morey: C -

He is great at getting good talent with the little he has, but Morey has failed to acquire a back up center, a position we lacked for some time now. It is also still unknown if he will ever be able to transform our "assets" into something in the future, the result until now has been a extremely mediocre team.

    Adelman: D

He has been acting strange all year, bad rotations, overplaying starters, taking out hot players and leaving in cold ones, even when the offense stagnates. The most worrying is that RA has a history of not playing young players and that simply is not a good fit with a team that needs to develop their young core.

    Players

    Martin: B –

Probably martin and Scola have been our best players. He is playing as expected and that’s good, but his lack of defense and the fact that his game depends too much on drawing fouls prevents him of being a elite player in this league.

    Scola: B+

The long season combined with the participation with his national team seems to have caught up with him. But thus far he has been hands down our best player, although as KM he lacks the defensive presence we so desperately need.

    Lowry: C+

He has been too inconsistent and at times seems to try to go all “hero” taking bad long jumpers (like yesterday against the hornets).

    Brooks: C -

Injury has really hurt his game early on, but when he is shooting well he is our best player in creating his own shots, to bad he only had about 3 good games this season.

    Battier: C

His defense is declining and I always felt people overrated him around here. The issue is he is kind of the team’s thermometer, the Rockets play much better when he’s aggressive.

    Hayes: B+

He goes out there and does his job, he is playing at full potential. The knock on him is he is too short, but you can’t improve on height.

    Budinger: D

Although he improved his game recently he has sucked all season long, if he is not hitting jumpers he is practically useless out there.

    Hill: C+

Has shown some flashes of improvement, but still lacks the IQ to really take the next step. Hope he continues improving.

    Lee: B

Has done what is expected of him.

    Miller: C-

Inconsistent and not worthy of his current contract.

    Yao

    No way to grade him…

    Patterson: C+

Finally is getting time and could become a solid starter for us in the future.

    Ish: C

Not much to say. Showed some promise…

    Jeffries: C

Very scarce playing time, which is strange in a team that lacks of any interior defense. Has looked okay when getting time.

    Terrance Williams

Not available, should be playing more.

    Medical staff: F

Still not sold on their excuse, Yao was brought back to early and re-injured him self while rehabbing, after so many misdiagnosis I’m surprised our medical staff gets a free pass.

too high of grades for the players, too low for morey and adelman...both deserve A or A-. they are the best things we have going for us...we need one great trade to make us whole again..we have made a lot of great little trades.

Morey deserves a D. If you keep doing the same thing building around an injury prone player what do you expect. If you go down every team on the western conference they have a player who is better or has a higher potential then every player on our team. It is time that morey stop turning us into the bucks.

He is athletic, but when he has to play team D he looks lost. Its time Pat got all the minutes. His jumper is better. He switches better, rebounds better, and just plays smart.

I was with you until you got to that last set of players. Why give Jeffries and Williams an F? And considering Patterson's a rookie, he surely has performed better than a C+. Nice job on the rest.

Yeah right! If we had let him go and he came out rocking this season... = RAPE!

Let's face it. We had to give him a try. He is a superstar! You can't replace superstars...

Please, don't blame GM/Owner for Yao. Some players are too good to not take gamble on them...

Daryl has put up a good team surrounding Yao and that's what was expected. If Yao and AB were healthy, we would have won like 25-15.... and then Daryl might have made a trade to adjust a weakness to make us even better....

It's just impossible to build a team when superstar goes down. Look at Dallas, they lose Dirk, butler and lose 7 of last 9.

Nope, sorry, Morey has to be held accountable for the team's performance. He had all of last year to see how the team performed without Yao, and get an adequate backup in case it happened again. No handicap. Morey just hasn't gotten the job done. I like some of the moves he has made a whole lot, and I still believe in him, but he has failed so far. I give Scola and Martin a B+ at a minimum. They're doing what they're supposed to do, well enough. It's not their fault the rest of the team isn't built right. Yao gets the only incomplete.
