Chris Manix of SI reports that the Houston Rockets are close to a Mega-Trade, that would shake up the NBA. The Nuggets, Hornets, and Rockets are close to a deal that would send Carmelo Anthony, Renaldo Balkmin, Jarett Jack, Emeka Okafor, and yes Chris Paul to the Houston Rockets in a blockbuster deal which according to reports would involve more than 14 players. According to league sources, Daryl Morey the Houston Rockets GM has been planning this trade for months. Morey is hoping that with Chris Paul in Houston, it would convince Carmelo Anthony, who is a unrestricted free agent at the end of the season to at least consider signing a contract extension with the Rockets. Carmelos wife LaLa Vazquez was recently in Houston to visit her close friend Kelly Rowland. And has said she loves the city

If you are asking why does Denver do this deal, well many League Sources claim that new Nuggets GM Masai Uriji, believes that Carmelo will block any trade to the NJ Nets, but thinks that a trade to Houston could be worked out considering Carmelo's agent Bill Duffy believes Houston is a place where he could convince Carmelo Anthony to sign on to the idea of playing for the Rockets. Duffy also has ties to Houston with another of his cleints Yao Ming. Their is also rumblings around the league that the Nuggets will rather keep Carmelo than trade him to the New York Knicks.

The Nuggets will also try and trade or buyout former All-Star Kenyon Martin, in a seperate deal. No reports on the avaliablity of Chauncey Billups, but have been told that the Lakers and Heat are some of the many teams who will be calling about him at the deadline.
