In my opinion, infants should not be allowed to fly first class on any commercial airlines. On my last flight this weekend, there was a couple traveling in first class with their 1 year old who was shrieking so loud that headphones wouldn't even mask the sound.

Infants being those young enough to not be required to purchase an actual ticket (the ones that sit in their parents' lap, cry, shriek, etc). I'm fine with children flying first class, just not infants.

If parents choose to travel with infants, they should fly economy. Isn't that what Southwest Airlines is for?

    Who's with me?

There's no such thing as first class anymore. Maybe on one of those Mid East or SE Asian boutique airlines. Otherwise it's all business class.

As a parent, I would want to be able to fly first class with my son.

    Children can suck though.

True, for domestic flights. American carriers flying internationally still usually have 3 classes though.

But yes, for the purposes of this thread, I'd include business class as a no-go as well.

How old is your son? If he's old enough to know not to cry in public, then he's fine. If not, get in the back. :)

My youngest is about to turn 1. My oldest is 3. The youngest rarely cries, but neither would be fun because keeping them still is impossible.

Lol @ an annoyed first class snob. Infants are allowed to fly in any class of their parents' choice. If you had your way, I am sure you would want to only allow attractive rich young models in the first class.

both legs of my overseas flight in November had crying babies on board. i know now what hell is. i was flying economy, doesn't mean i deserved to be tortured anymore than you. crying babies should know no prejudice.

    Very true.

Maybe infants should only be allowed on flights at certain times, or better yet, only on certain airlines.

I say infants are so adorable and yet fragile: air travel is not a good for them and they should get the best care if they have to be stuck in a plane. Let's vote infants should only travel in the first class. Who's with me?

I think they should be thrown in the baggage compartment or tied to the plane by rope and dragged to the destination. Quite truthfully, I see no other solution.

Then maybe they should have to pay for a seat.

Folks travel in econ class don't get a deal to travel with cranky infants either. Airline has policy kids 3 under don't have to have a ticket; they sit where their parents are. Personally, I didn't like the idea to have my son sit on my lap during a long flight, so I bought a seat for him a couple years back. But that's not required.

People in the back can still hear their muffled whining. It's already bad enough sitting near the ****ter.

Sounds like you are the one whining, not the little kids in first class. Get over yourself
