I think if we let Chase start a game or two, I think he'll get a different feel for himself. I think he feels cluttered right now and isn't thinking freely about his game. If he can get out on the court fast and start working himself in the offense naturally, rather than being assigned a set of strict minutes in a strict role, then I think he can come out of his slump. What do you guys say? Lets start Chase so he can get a fresh feel and become more productive when he comes in as one of our back-ups. Now i know you guys are thinking that it's r****ded and can think of all the technical ways through your super-human b-ball knowledge about how it would ruin the rotation or our defense would disappear... or you can just keep it simple...let him start instead of Shane (the minutes can still be similar) and please don't over-react and think that it's permanent. This is just an out of the box suggestion that may solve Chases' issues this season.
it's not like he will get starters minutes, just place him in the game differently because his role isn't allowing him to play like he did last year for some reason. just to get his confidence back.
How is putting him in a different role than last year supposed help him play the way he did last year?
How the hell does pitting him against the starters of another team give him more confidence? I mean seriously, where is the logic behind this. Chase has sucked so much on both ends of the court that scrubs of scrub teams could destroy this guy on the offensive end. And somehow you think playing him against the starters of another team will give him confidence? If he wants confidence, he could go join the D-league. When his value rises, we trade him. A guy who could disappear for over 1/4 quarter of the season is suffering from more than just "confidence" issue. And if his confidence really is that fragile then he is hopeless in the playoffs.
And what do you tell Shane Battier, whose busted his butt all season playing defense and shooting better than Budinger? "Sorry Shane, Budinger is shooting his way into the D-League, but we're going to let him take your starting spot for a few games." The Rockets don't 'reward' players for performing bad. If anything, they make them earn their playing time (Jordan Hill).
I was sure this thread had to be a joke. I am all for helping Chase get better instead of just writing him off as a failure, but this is SO not the solution.
flamingdts, he has sucked this year. but you cannot say that he will play with the same level or intenisty if he started the game. you can't use the examples of what he has done in this year and automatically think he will keep it that way if the playing situation changed. My suggestion is give him a chance to play the game differently so he can re-acquire the stellar game he brought to us last year. Will he play better? I don't bring a guarantee to it, but i do think it's worth an experiment.
Let's put Stevie Franchise back into the starting lineup, maybe changing his role will counteract the drugs and alcohol!
yeah that's exactly right buddy. And if shane were a leader for this team he would accept this idea if it were to help the team. You think he cares about not starting for a game or 2 to see if the team can improve?
Ermmmm.... Yes I can Are you honestly suggesting a player who has shown no intensity or strong level of play off the bench against opposing bench players will somehow play at a higher performance with more intensity when up against starters? Do you see how broken that logic is? "Since Chase has sucked so much this year against bench and scrubs, let's try and see if he plays better against starters, like Lebron! He for sure will regain his confidence that way with Lebron manhandling him left and right!"
Wait since when do we start encouraging players who are playing poorly having them at starting position? I still don't understand the logic behind it. Yes C. Bud needs a lot of help but having him start is like asking the team to lose on purpose. I'm all for helping and developing players but clearly this is not the way nor will Adelman ever do it in his life time unless Chase improves on both ends. Reverse psychology isn't the right place to motivate players. If he can't motivate himself, you expect others to help him in his place? I thought the NBA is where men of men play, not where people hold hands and sing Kumbaya.
yeah right bro. seriously, i'm RX2012. a user in the forum, shelving out his ideas on what chase can do to get out of the slump.
