[Tmobile] What should I get? G2 or MyTouch 4G?

I've compared the two phones for days, and I just can't weed out the better buy. Both phones look equally amazing. So if anyone on Clutchfans has either of these phones... please tell me which one I should get.

getting my G2 right now at home,will play with it when i get home from work....both phones are pretty sweet, but the MyTouch4G has a front facing camera vs. the G2's slideout keyboard.

Just depends on preference. I know personally I like my slideout keyboards as the onscreen texting annoys me when im writing out emails.

I have a G2 and love it. It feels nice and heavy (solid) in my hands and 4G is fast.

I've heard something about a hinge problem with the keyboard? Does it noticeable hurt the value of the phone? Does it kill the phone?

do you plan on laying on your back and using the keyboard? That's the only issue with the hinge. It won't "snap" and stay if you hold the phone face down.

I use swipe about 75% of the time anyways. It's pretty addictive.

My research on both phones has made me go with the G2. It comes with vanilla Android and will receive updates quicker because of it. The hardware is less impressive than the Mytouch4G but it runs quicker and doesn't crash because the Mytouch4G comes with Sense UI which apparently is buggy and makes the phone run slower.

As far as the front facing camera vs slide out keyboard goes, I can't really think of a time where I'd use the front facing camera but that's just me. My contract doesn't expire until May so I'm waiting for my next upgrade then but I plan on getting the G2.

it used to be said that even the worst physical keyboard is still better than a touch screen keyboard. has swype changed that?

Just got the G2 last night. I got it free for extending my contract for 2 years. I don't think they made the same offer for the MyTouch4g so the decision was made for me. I'm not a techie so I don't know all the hardware/software differences but switching from a Blackberry I like the comfort of having a physical keyboard. Once I get used to swype I may not use it as much but its nice to have the option of using either.

If you go to a phone with Swipe to a phone without....you miss it...a lot.

I personally would stay away from Tmobile, but they're cheap so i'll give them that. You get what you pay for so don't forget

Only reason I'm switching to T-mobile is because its considerably cheaper. Is the service really that bad?

You need to look up the T mobile forum. Tons of people like MyTouch 4G. We like it.

One of the pluses is that it can be used as a Wi-fi hot spot, wireless or USB tether.

I had TMobile for years, back when they were Aerial, Voicestream, up until 2008.
The service has seriously degraded, dropped calls are frequent (i thought it was the phone at first, and i went through 3 phones with tmobile) , the 3g coverage (4g coverage as well since all they did was do a firmware upgrade on those 3g towers to enable them to get HSPA+) is horrible. I then switched to AT&T and was very happy except the prices sucked. Sprint is awesome because of the roaming agreement with Verizon, if you get an Android phone on Sprint and root it, you can download an app that force roams onto Verizon. If you care about customer support though, Tmobile is wonderful in that department
