This is going to happen in every round of the playoffs as well (just like last year) so they better get used to it. Will it stop them from winning a championship? Nope
Also, from fox: I love the "I do what I do" line. Typical arrogant douchebag Kobe, who sees nothing wrong with his ballhogging.
Did you even bother reading what was posted? The argument wasn't that Kobe shouldn't be playing. It was that Kobe shouldn't be shooting so much. It's well known that the Lakers are a much better team when Kobe shoots less. That's been true for years.
I'm simply stating that people can b**** all they want about Kobe and how many shots he takes blah blah blah. But Kobe if the face of that team and without them they don't win those 5 championships. Let Kobe be Kobe and the Lakers will continue winning. Kobe still chucks up tons of shots in the playoffs and the Lakers still win. This article is dumb.
That might be going a little overboard, as they still have Artest, Odom and Bynum. But yeah without Gasol they are a second round team at best.
This is such a non sequitur argument. I could argue that he shoots more in losses because they are behind and no one is helping him...so, he plays more minutes and tries to shoot them back into the game. It's like arguing a NFL wins more when they don't pass the ball as much. Uh, yeah, because if you're ahead you run the ball. btw: the main reason is argument is BS Kobe-bashing is because here are his FGAs per playoff game the last 3 years: Kobe's FGAs per playoff game 2008 = 22 FGA/gm 2009 = 23 FGA/gm 2010 = 22 FGA/gm What is the point the writer is trying to make, again? That's three years of playoff games where Kobe shots more in the playoffs than reg season and they have two titles and a finals loss
You could argue that, but you'd be wrong. Kobe took seven shots in the first five minutes of the game. He obviously came out in this game (as well as the last two) to prove a point that the offense goes through him. Yes, but compare the minutes Kobe played in those playoffs vs what he is playing now. His usage rate is at an all-time high even though he's shooting as bad as he ever has. Once a chucker, always a chucker.
Did it occur to you that it doesn't work the same way in the playoffs? Maybe the reason the team does worse in the regular season when Kobe shoots more is that his teammates become less motivated to play hard because they're not getting the ball. Obviously, even if you're not getting the ball, it's a lot easier to stay motivated in the playoffs. I agree though that it would be interesting to actually look at the stats more in-depth and see if you're right about Kobe trying to shoot his team back into games, rather than it being a case of Kobe shooting his team out of games that they could have won otherwise.
I believe that was their record the year before they got Gasol....Artest is not a difference maker at this point, he is a defensive role player. DD
