It takes 10 minutes to make a cut. It takes 10 minutes to make another cut. 20 minutes makes more sense than what the teacher wrote. I believe.
Appears that the teacher is wrong. Doesn't say 2 cuts...2 pieces is 1 cut and that took 10 minutes. 3 pieces = 2 cuts x 10 min/cut = 20 minutes.
i saw this on my google reader, logically if it takes you 10 minutes to make 1 cut which results in 2 boards, then taking a board and cutting it twice (2 x 10min) would result in 3 boards. My answer would be 20.
1 cut makes 2 pieces which takes 10 minutes but any additional cuts will take 5 minutes instead of 10.
Teacher fail. She was effecitively thinking that each piece will take 5 minutes to create. Horrible question/example.
Is like saying a chocolate bar has 2 piece cost 10 dollars. Add another piece and will charge you an extra 5 dollars.
Teacher is wrong. He or She is probably thinking 1 cut = 5 minutes, 2 cuts = 10 minutes, 3 cuts = 15 minutes...
If it takes Marie 10 minutes to saw a board in half, she needs to give up home improvement & get her ass back in the kitchen.
