You're probably better than me haha. From all the Clutchfans pickup game threads, I take from it that Kam, CCR, and 00rocketsgirl are the best on this board?
I voted good. I'm definatley not the best on the team, but I do have my moments, especially from the 3 point line. I usually play pickup games with the varsity players at my high school, and I hold my own.
I used to consider myself great. However, after my freshman year in high school, I just kind of lost my love of it (maybe it was the coaching). I still play maybe once or twice a week, but not nearly as much as I used to. I'm about 6"2 and 190 lbs. I use both hands very well, and consider myself to be versatile. I'd say I'm good now.
The only thing that stopped me from voting for Great is the fact that I suck against people with height.
I'm pretty sure most of us are average. If you're more than that, I call BS. Why would a pro be hanging out in Clutchfans?
Yeah I know what you mean.. I'm only 5 "9.5.. But I will say being a little shorter than most others can have its benefits. I like to hover around the 3 point line and make quick cuts to the basket. Once I make a few 3's I pull out my pump fake, and it makes the defender jump every time. So when he goes for the pump fake, I just go right by him.
My threes are way too inconsistent to do that, haha. It sucks that everytime I drive I have to alter my shot or layup in one way or another.
If you're looking for someone that can grab loose rebounds, hustle on defense, and knock down the occasional three, and be an above average low post scorer, I'm your man. if your looking for speed, hops, and ball handling duties, I'm not your man!
Actually... considering this might not be fair to the older people on this board... how would you describe yourself in your prime?
Considering that I smoke a pack and a half a day, and considering that this isn't 10 or 12 years ago... By your criteria, I'd honestly say I'm in the "great" bracket...for like 20 minutes. After that, I'm pretty much worthless - but I don't give up.
That's how I voted. 6 feet, 1.5 inches. In prime, about 240 with enough hops to dunk a tennis ball. Good rebounder, great outlet passer, nifty post moves, decent break decisions, solid man and team defender, took up space. Not fast, uneasy on the perimeter, not too confident facing the basket, weak left hand, Recspecs earned me the nickname "Rambis."
Well, if that's the case - in my prime, I played against Rashard Lewis, TJ Ford, Daniel Ewing and Moses Malone Jr.; and fared pretty well against all of them with the exception of Lewis. That dude was just too BIG and I was never a power forward (6'2", 170) - it's just that he fouled out every big person we had en route to beating us by like 80 points. I'd get into great position and put all of my weight into him, but he would just turn and dunk - it was like watching a fast break from the baseline camera.
Jr year 2nd team all district, Sr year 1st team all district, 3 all tournement teams, all city 2nd team for a 4A school in Texas. I still play alot to this day and i can't get enough of it. knock on wood, but ive been very durable to play and i dont want to stop anytime soon.
