Thanks for posting. Blanda was a true legend. When he was still playing in Houston, my dad met him out at Ellington AFB and raved about it for months. Sad news indeed.
+ - I didn't see him play, but I've seen his highlights and what he meant to the Oilers. Que En Paz Descanse.
He may be dead now, but I expect him to be switch positions and return in a few weeks! All jokes aside, I first read of this man about 7 years ago when I was younger and his story really is amazing...there aint many like that left in the world. RIP.
Was before my time, but I remember hearing stories about him and saw highlights of him within the last few years actually. He truly was a legend for the Oilers...RIP
Wrong forum. Not a Texan. JK I remember growing up in Houston and hearing about how the man was an amazing athlete, and a tribute to the Oilers franchise. They truly don't make 'em like that anymore. He will be missed. RIP.
My father had season tickets for the first couple of seasons of the Oilers in the AFL, so I saw a lot of early games and the two championship seasons. I got to see Blanda kick the first 50 field goal in professional football history, which was cool. Those were some great teams and the Oilers had some great players. Blanda was something else! If there's a heaven, I'm sure he's doing something up there with a football. Who are the Texans?
