Absolutely. Lidge has looked real good again recently.

In fact, everything seems to be falling in place for the Phillies right now. Quite a few players have either gotten healthy or returned to playing well over the past several weeks... Howard, Victorino, Lidge, Ibanez, Utley, etc...

The Oswalt acquisition was huge, as was getting Lidge a couple years back even if he struggled in '09. They probably don't win the WS that year without Lidge's perfection. The last 2 Stros games show you the importance of the bullpen.

It's hard to see any NL team beating the Phils in a 7-game series but that's why they play the games. On paper, it has to be scary to face Roy, Roy and Cole back-to-back-to-back. And the offense is back to among the league's best like it should be.

Adding to the Roy stats:

He's 10-0 at Citizens Bank Park with the Phillies looking likely to get home field advantage at least through the NLCS if they get that far.

And he's 23-3 against the Reds, their 1st rd opponent if the season ended today.

Most amazingly, there are some Philly fans who would say that he's their 3rd best starter given Hamel's age, upside and how he's been pitching in the 2nd half. I'm not sure if I agree with that but the point is that they have a ridiculous postseason starting rotation. On paper, it's one of the best I've ever seen.

I just saw that. Great to see. It's been a while but he's still getting on base at an elite clip even if the power hasn't been there.

Puma is tied with A-Roid for the highest career OPS+ on the Yankees. Teixeira isn't even close.

And Puma did it without the roids.

Imagine what his career numbers would be like if he had been juicing like many of his counterparts. He's already in the Top 50 all-time in OPS+ (Top 20 in straight OPS), which is like being in the Top 5 all-time in PER in the NBA.

On a side note though, at least the Astros were competitive again.
