Or am I missing something? He says the Rockets will come away from the lottery with pick #6... anyone know how that is possible?

---------------
From the Houston Chronicle:
Pick six?

Comets/Rockets vice president for basketball operations Carroll Dawson will be in New Jersey this weekend sweating out the NBA's draft lottery.

Van Chancellor was asked if he had any good-luck rituals he would suggest to his boss.

"I'll say this: I thought (the Rockets) would get No. 6. That's the pick I think we'll get," Chancellor said. "I'm the kind of guy, I'd be thinking about nothing but a `1.' I'd just have a mental image of a 1 because I'm one of the luckiest guys in the world."

Then why the thoughts of No. 6 for the Rockets?

"I don't know why. Just wait and see -- the number that'll come out is 6.

"Trust me. One day, I'm going to win the Texas Lottery. I know I am."

Maybe Houston will trade up to the sixth pick. (It's unlikely they will trade down to the sixth pick.)

But why would you trade up to the sixth pick?! Swift will be gone by that time.

I don't think he understands the way the NBA lottery works... which it seems not many people do even though it's pretty simple.

He's very bright, but then you know that.

Chancellor is just a little goofy. He know's there's nothing he can do to change the lottery, so he's having fun with it.

I think is cheerful and unusual personality makes him one of the most likeable coaches in any league, any sport.
