http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5493423 HOUSTON -- Houston Rockets All-Star center Yao Ming is confident that he'll be ready for the start of the regular season after a team doctor said his surgically repaired foot has fully healed.
I can see it now.. DM: What Carmelo is interested in the Rockets.. Doctor: Ring Ring (Answers phone) Yes? DM: Hey Doc I need you to publicly state Yao is clear to play because I just found my big off season trade. Doctor: Done
It's great to hear. Next I want to know when he's cleared for full contact, I'd imagine the leg is still a little weak.
He is cleared for full contact with no limitations. Played against Chuck and Dleaguer yesterday at the Toyota Center
I had ankle surgery last June. My doctors told me two months ago my "surgically repaired foot was fully healed." I still have a pronounced limp and I couldn't run or even jog if somebody was chasing me with a knife. Of course, Yao has certainly worked much harder on his rehab than I have. But I'll believe it when I see it.
Yao is looking good. I think the big guy can build his stamina up to eventually about 30 minutes a game when we reach the playoffs and Finals. For the rest of the season? 20-25 minutes. Carmello and Brooks or Martin carry us the rest of the season with alot of support from our deep bench.
