Crappy way to end it, good thing this wasn't during the middle of a pennant race.

Lindstrom is hurting, he shouldn't be pitching. This one hurts, Wandys gotta be pissed right now

That was a ridiculous bounce off the wall.

At least his ERA is down 4.34 which is good for his trade vaule. A strong finish and his season ERA could be in the mid to low 3s.

So I've been wondering about this. I've been seeing more and more catchers opt to not block the basepath and try for a sweeping tag. I know the throw coming from LF makes this a more natural position for Castro, but what is the reason for this? Simply by being more in the basepath a bit there, he would have had the ball before Hart, and forced him to make a more akward slide instead of sliding from nearly 5 ft out.

Are teams trying to limit the number collisions? Are Umps honoring the bathpath as the runner right more?

It'll be really, really, really hard to get to the low 3s. He'd have to be nearly flawless in his last 9 or 10 starts. One bad outing and...

Getting into the 3s will be a challenge in itself.

Bottom line: he's really turned it around over the last couple of months.

Interesting your bring that up.

Somebody on TCB feels that this is an issue with Castro... that he comes too far out on plays at home. Not sure what to make of it.

The Indians' top prospect, Carlos Santana, is getting season-ending LCL surgery after recently getting his leg hyperextended on a play at home.

It is a trend in the game. Catchers are not wanting to get in the path of runners because of injury threats. Most catchers now will never block the plate or even give a lot of leg in the base path for fear of injury to them and opponents. There was a long discussion about it on ESPN radio about a week ago but I cannot remember what program it was.

Oh, and still not a fan of Fielder's celebrations, even if he's toned it down some. Not at all saying it because we lost, either.

He shouldn't be surprised that he gets beaned so often.

Do you know if that was pre or post-Santana injury?

I could see that injury leading to the discussion.

at this point I don't care about wins and losses, I only care about seeing our young guys play and see what they can do and improve and so far I am pretty impressed.

CJ is hitting like a man possessed out there.

Wallace missed a couple opportunities to drive some more runs in today, but he did have a nice double.

Castro is gradually making his BA respectable.

I hate Fielder, period. His celebrations are too much and he gets pissed when you even think about throwing inside, even thought his hands ARE over the plate. Maybe he really thinks he is a prince.

lol It was this time a year ago when Fielder tried to go into the Dodgers locker room after getting hit by Mota.

The kids had played so well too, Wandy was cruisin, Lindstrom had to screw it all up.

Whats up with Brad Mills giving so many starts to Geoff Blum and Pedro Feliz in replace of Angel Sanchez and Brett Wallace? Makes little sense to me. This isn't going no where so you might as well get as many bats from young guys like Sanchez and Wallace to see what you have. Mills continues to sit Wallace versus lefties even though he was hitting .384 versus lefties in the minors this season.

Yea, I just got home and saw Feliz in the lineup which kind of puzzled me. I think he wants to ease him in vs tough lefties. I like the job Mills has done this season but I think sometimes he wants his bench guys to get playing time at the expense of his younger guys, that should change next season.

Stros can't get a clutch hit tonight to save their lives apparently. Tough series getting people home so far, hopefully they will break through soon.

Myers looks to be having an easy time out there, sucks Bourn wasn't playing center instead of JB...it could be a scoreless game right now.

Edit - Just saw the play and it was a tough chance but Bourn might have had that ball.

WOW, I know its Carlos Lee but you GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. Plays like that and not getting the run home from 3rd with less then two outs in the 4th tell you all you need to know.
