I'm pretty sure everybody in professional cycling does some kind of illegal perfomance enhancing measure. So it would not be a big deal if lance was caught because he still won against a field of ppl that were also blood doping etc.

but the bad part is how adamantly he denies it

Now, Sports Illustrated magazine has sent two of its investigative journalists on the trail to uncover evidence of Armstrong's alleged use of PEDs. They will report the full findings in the magazine on newsstands on Wednesday, but in the meantime, they have leaked evidence that they believe may link Armstrong to "the saddest deception in sports history."

None of SI's leaked evidence is particularly strong, however.

Included in their key findings are:

- Armstrong had "access" to a drug that boosts the blood's oxygen-carrying capacity in the 1990s called "HemAssist." He has since denied every taking it and never publicly tested positive for it.

- "Lance had a bag of drugs and s---," said former teammate and admitted doper Floyd Landis, when talking about being stopped by customs in St. Moritz in 2003. Agents allegedly found syringes and drugs with labels written in Spanish. Landis claims Armstrong then asked a member of his traveling crew to convince customs "agents that the drugs were vitamins and that the syringes were for vitamin injections." Armstrong has since denied this happened.

- Armstrong's testosterone-epitestosterone ratio was reported to be higher than normal on three occasions between 1993 and 1996, although the evidence for this is spurious. The lab that reported the higher levels has long since dismissed the tests, and all attempts at unearthing them have fallen flat.

- Another former teammate who has admitted taking PEDs said Armstrong was "the instigator" in 1995 when it came to his cycling team using the banned blood booster EPO. Again, Armstrong denies the accusation and has not tested positive for EPO during his career.

Seriously? I'm sure it's just that easy to convince customs agents that syringes and drugs with labels written in a foreign language are vitamins

Bottom line.....the guy has NEVER tested positive for anything. Until he does, I really could care less.

Not only has he never tested positive for anything, wasn't he, at one point, the mos tested athlete in the world. He basically was tested 2-3 times a day at one point.

Exactly. If he did dope, he's the greatest cheater in the history of cheating. He was subjected to more scrutiny than anyone else, and never got caught. He had to take the most tests of any athlete ever, constantly adapting tests, and tests that caught many of his competitors. Because of all that, it's easier to believe that these accusations are just sour grapes.

By the way, the article that supposedly has the great new information is from Selena Roberts. She's the one who refused to admit she was wrong about the Duke lacrosse case.

Seems like there would be more than one witness to this? Where is the guy who supposedly convinced the officials it was just vitamins? I guess Landis didn't know the guy's name, the guy is in hiding, or the guy is dead?

I read the news, but decided not to post them. People will believe what they want to believe, even though it is clear that he is the worst cheater and fraud in sports history.

There was physical evidence. His blood tested positive for EPO a few years ago. There just wasn't a sample to test so they couldn't do anything to him according to the rules. Lance is all about plausible deniability.

People will continue to come after him simply because he's been a jerk to pretty much everybody that crossed paths with him. It's pretty similar to Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens....people want to see them go down in flames because when they were at the top, they were, putting it nicely, ungracious winners.

He has probably been tested more than any other athlete in the world. Europeans despise him and have been after him for almost two decades. And yet he has never, to my knowledge, failed a drug test or been sanctioned by the WADA or a cycling body.

Until such time as I see tanglible evidence, I will give him the benefit of the doubt. Vitriolic accusations from former competitors, proven cheats, and Europeans that have always hated him won't cut it for me.

Helmut, how is it clear that he cheated? We have some new revelations from dubious sources -- hardly damning evidence -- even in a German show court.
