The 6-foot-9, 260-pound Walker, who played for the San Antonio Spurs last season, is being considered as a potential replacement for Horace Grant. Grant also is a free agent and believed to be considering an offer from the Orlando Magic.

Free-agent forward Samaki Walker visited the Lakers' training facility in El Segundo on Thursday and met with General Manager Mitch Kupchak.

Walker also is considering Miami, Orlando, Denver and possibly Minnesota.

Guard Mitch Richmond is expected to be in town next week for a workout with the Lakers. Richmond, 36, was limited to 37 games with the Washington Wizards last season because of injuries to both knees. The six-time All-Star averaged 16.2 points, 3.0 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 2000-01. His career scoring average is 22.2 points.
