    http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/17014/wolves-burning-up-the-phones

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been burning up the phone lines the last few days looking for a trade.

They've discussed deals to move up to No. 2 for Evan Turner, a 4 for 7 swap with the Pistons, and have looked at moving their other draft picks (16 and 23) to either get up in the draft or to add another veteran.

However, the most consistent thing I'm hearing is that the team appears to be determined to move Al Jefferson. According to sources they've offered him to Detroit for Tayshaun Prince this week and have also contacted the Pacers about their interest in Jefferson for Troy Murphy's expiring contract.

However, the latest thing I'm hearing out of Minnesota may have the most legs. Sources have told me that the Wolves and Grizzlies have been discussing a swap that would send Jefferson to the Grizzlies for Zach Randolph. The deal would allow the Wolves to save a lot of money over time. Randolph has one year, $17.6 million left on his contract. Jefferson has three years, $42 million left.

According to sources, Randolph's ongoing legal problems aren't an imediment to Minnesota who is doing the trade in an effort to get out of Jefferson's deal and free up more playing time for Kevin Love and potentially Derrick Favors if he falls to them with the No. 4 pick.

While sources stressed that the two sides were still just discussing the deal, one source sounded optimistic that it could actually happen.

    WOW, Minnesota is dumb

How does trading for Zach Randolph free up more time for Kevin Love? Al Jefferson can at least somewhat play center, Randolph can't play center at all.

I suppose it's an expiring contract, but who knows if the "new" Randolph we saw in Memphis was the real Zach or if the old Zach will resurface if he is to play on a very bad team in Minnesota.

Personally I like Al Jefferson, but he just wasn't the same last year.

everyone in minnesota needs to be fired....giving al that contract was a mistake, now this is a mistake, drafting flynn was a huge mistake, drafting rubio will probably be a big mistake as well, since he's going to hold them hostage....

they should have taken lopz instead of Love and went with curry and Hill last year..

The Minnesota Franchise is a freakin joke. I feel so sorry for T-Wolves fans. The only explanation for them not revolting and torching the arena with all the adminstration inside is that they must have reached a point where they just don't give a damn anymore. Kinda like Clipper's fans.

We should be in the thick of this trade. Jefferson to Houston. Randolph to Minnesota. Picks+trade bait (Battier, Jeffries, etc) to Minn/Mem.

    Absolutely not.

The only reason why Minny wants Randolph is his expiring contract. Why would the Rockets offer anything more than expiring contracts to get Jefferson?

If the Twolves are just looking to dump salary, I wouldnt include the 14th pick.

    Battier + Jeffries for Jefferson

This might be bad news for Paul George fans..

Source says Minnesota really wants Paul George, thus reason for rumored Jefferson,16/Randolph,12 trade.

The Wolves GM has no idea what he's doing. It's like he sits around all day with the RealGM trade checker and comes up with dumb ideas. That team has no strategy and no direction.

Last time I checked Al Jefferson was a super star type talent. Why would they be making calls to give him away  I should be the other way around.

    T-Wolves really are a JOKE

I don't think its a bad deal actually, saves the Wolves a lot of money and they get to lock up Paul George with the 12th pick.

The only problem with it is do you really want Zach Randolph on a team that is trying to develop its youth?

    I believe in Kahn.
