So, the missus and I were discussing who we would select as a "dream crew" for Star Trek. Being sports fans too, we actually decided to have a draft to pick our best crews. Yeah, that's pretty nerdy. Cool story bro. Here are the results of the draft. The number in brackets is the overall position that person was drafted: Team A Captain: Jean-Luc Picard (5) - TNG 1st Officer: Spock (1) - ST Chief Medical Officer: The Doctor (13) - Voyager Chief Engineer: Montgomery Scott (12) - ST Operations Officer: Data (4) - TNG Tactical/Chief of Security: Worf (9) - TNG Science Officer: 7 of 9 (8) - Voyager Navigation/Helm: Hikaru Sulu (17) - ST Communications: Uhura (16) - ST Team B Captain: James T. Kirk (2) - ST 1st Officer: William Riker (17) - TNG Chief Medical Officer: Beverly Crusher (10) - TNG Chief Engineer: Geordi La Forge (6) - TNG Operations Officer: Harry Kim (11) - Voyager Tactical/Chief of Security: Tuvok (3) - Voyager Science Officer: B’Ellana Torres (14) - Voyager Navigation/Helm: Tom Paris (7) - Voyager Communications: Deanna Troi (15) - TNG Positions aren't 100% consistent from show to show, so we allowed for some leeway there. For example, B'ellana is slotted in as a science officer on Team B even though she is really a chief engineer on Voyager. As long as the person could conceivably do the job, then it was okay. Neither of us watch Enterprise and we've both only seen a few episodes of DS9 so nobody was picked from those shows. From the results, I tend to favor the original series and she tends to favor Voyager, with TNG relatively evenly dispersed. Who had the best "draft"? Who would you include on your dream crew? Can't do a draft without DS9 characters. O'Brien - transporter chief of USS enterprise and chief engineer in ds9 is full of win.
Crew A would kick crew B's collective asses. Two former borgs, a klingon, an android, a vulcan, and an asian dude who knows martial arts? Plus the doc is a hologram! Wow. I am a nerd.
The A-team would mop the floor with B-listers, although I have a feeling Picard would have the Voyager crew members ejected from an airlock within the week.
Team B Kirk and Riker get way more space-trim. Kirk: "Check out this six-pack! I haven't had a carb since Stardate 5285." Number 2: "Yeah, I hit that so hard she went Borg"
A team with Paris, Riker, and Kirk on it... they'd impregnate the entire galaxy before conquering it. Assuming Torres allows Paris to, of course... And LaForge > Scott. Scott gets on my nerves. He needs 2 hours to take a leak. Couldn't do anything on time. "Scottie, I need you outta the bathroom... NOW!" "I'm givin' 'er everything I got, Cap'n! But I'm gonna need another 2 hours!"
Drafter A crushed Drafter B. Someone should be ashamed at taking candy from mental midgets. Tuvok at 3? AHEAD of Worf or Data Drafter A grabbing The Doctor at 13 was quite the coup. (I hope you weren't B.)
It's almost a total sweep, every position cep for maybe Captain goes to team A. Team B is Voyager heavy and lets be honest, that cast was pretty bad. Meanwhile Team A has some of the best secondary ST characters.
