This has been the nuttiest Texas winter I've probalby ever experienced. It's the first day of spring and North Texas is getting hit with 1-4 inches of snow. I live in Texas because I don't want to be in snow! It was in the 60's-70's just yesterday. Today's high is about 40 with a low of 29 and 20+ mph winds. The windchill is in the 20's. And on Monday, back into the 60's. Yipee. This almost makes me want to move back to Houston.... almost....

Naaaaaaah.

It snowed two days in the winter. TWO DAYS. In previous years, we would be lucky to even get snow overnight that wouldn't freeze over.

70+ here in Oregon. Great day to wear shorts and drive with the windows down. Also did some yard work. I love this time of year when the valley is warm yet you can still see the snows on the Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains.

The reason for all the weird weather is that it is an el nino year. In el nino, pacific waters increase in temperature as a result of the weakening of trade winds.

Woke up to about 4 inches of snow on my lawn this morning. I threw a snowball at a neighbor's kid and ran inside. That was great, but it's time to melt now. About the only good thing to come out of this was that Walmart was actually pretty empty for 8:30am. lol.

Tough sheit. Probably due to have 1 more good cold front, and the Spring will continue to be wetter than normal, through June-ish, according to everything I've read. The wet winter has been an absolute godsend for much of Texas; I know you swamp-dwellers down on the coast may not have noticed it, but most of Texas has been having juuuuuust a bit of a drought over the past 3 years. Yes, this winter was rough (I work outside, you don't need to tell me how cold/wet/windy it's been), but it's all worth it: lakes are full, springs & creeks are flowing, everything's green & the wildflowers are coming on. Woohoo El Nino!
