I'm currently in high school...constantly being so shy when comes to communications...(alright..I'm soft...I know...)

I never have the guts to start a conversation with someone I don't really know..and worry about my accent all the time (came to Canada 4 years ago)....

It was always girls or guys come up to me and say hi or start other conversations..I'm have had so many chances...but it seems I don't have the confident to develop further...

Maybe it is a stupid thing to ask? If it is..sorry to waste your time.

If not, can you guys offers some advice? Thank you.

English is not my first language....probably there are tons grammer errors....sorry about that...

take note of something you find interesting on them. something like their jacket or watch. just say, "hey, i like your ___. what's the story behind it?" people will go on and on about it. just make sure you're genuine or they'll see right through your BS. people love it when other people show interest in them.

Girls usuallly like foriegn accents. As for your confidence, just remember that you have very little to lose when you start talking to a girl. Either she's cool and you'll get along well or she's not and would you really want to continue wasting your time on a bitch?

exude confidence without being cocky. make eye contact. show interest in what others are saying. be an active listener.

I was very shy in high school. I'm not really shy at all now. Shyness seems to come from a lack of confidence or fear of embarrassment. When I got older, I realized that I didn't care what anyone else thought about me. This allowed me to talk to people easier. The more you talk to new people the more confident you get.

So my advice is to just do it. It will get easier with experience. I wasted a lot of life experience when I was younger by not getting out and trying new things due to my shyness. So I would try to get over it as fast as you can.

It's hard to give someone advise about being confident on a message board, because ultimately it comes to just saying, "try and be more confident."

From the adult perspective, its less about confidence and more about just being yourself. As you get older, you become more comfortable with yourself, and also realize that life is short, and you just have to be yourself and try and have a good time.

If that means saying hi to strangers, great. If that means being a player with the ladies, great. If that means being more introverted, but still friendly, that's fine, too. But do you, don't do what you think will make you liked or cool. Do what you think will make you happy.

More practically, how about just trying to initiate a few conversations over the next few weeks and see how it goes?

Find a couple of the hood rat, less popular girls that you don't really care what they think about you and start practicing your skills on them. Try out various conversations techniques and topics and see what kind of responses you get and then go from there.

Anyways, girls love a guy with confidence but not too much confidence where your acting like the jersey shore kids. Don't be nervous either because that'll make you say things weirdly. Just be cool and remember taking a chance and failing is better then not taking any chance.

hang out with your friends who have girlfriends. you can practice having conversations with girls without the pressure of it going somewhere.

also, girls love to play matchmaker. they're likely to have a friend they think you'll be good with once they get to know you.

No but seriously, that shy stuff doesn't work I used to somewhat be like that in middle school but quickly learned to grow out of it thru HS, women tend to hate people with low self confidence.

Say what comes to your mind when you see them. If you notice their earring, initiate with a simple compliment...if you notice her shoes, do the same.

Or if you get mental block, just a simple "how's your day going?" It doesnt have to be anything revolutionary. Starting some chit chat is the easy part...keeping it going is another.

Dont be creepy, give them their space.

Be interested.

Try to stay away from questions that can be answered with a simple "yes" or "no".
