Maybe the warriors backcourt is worse, but I can't think of too many other teams.

How long can we play them together? It doesn't matter how much they score if they let the guys on the other team score even more. We are going to get man handled by teams with big guards.

The good thing is that both Battier and Ariza are capable of defending the best opposing swingman. Aaron/KMart are both able to get into passing lanes to get steals, both willing to take charges. The absence of Battier/Ariza really hurt us, u think if either were healthy, Wes Matthews (who?) would shoot lights out on them?

Knee-jerk thread. Battier, Ariza, and Lowry are out, of course our defense 1-3 is going to look bad right now, we only have offensive specialists available.

    Sweet Fancy Moses.

Everyone take cover, those knees are flying tonight.

Can we at least give Martin and Brooks a chance to play with Ariza before we dub this unit the worst defensive team of all time?

Furthermore, when big guards like Deron show up, we can just send in Lowry in normal conditions, so yeah, I don't forsee it as a serious problem.

You can't play your guy tight when you don't have any bigs to back you up. When they paly them tight they get beat and the rest is history. We need Yao and we need another defensive. If we get Amare or Bosh there are some good bigs that could help in the lottery.

On another note, can you imagine how terrible our situation at 1-3 would be right now without the Landry/Kevin Martin trade? Does Morey have a crystal ball?

How is it knee jerk to say we might have the worst defensive backcourt. Have you seen brooks and kmart playing D.

I already answered your question in the post you quoted, maybe you should go back and actually bother to read it before replying.

Because the backcourt hasn't been together much longer than a week. And the small forwards of Battier/Ariza have been hurt or missed games for much of that.

If AB and Kevin played the defense they did tonight, Yao would've fouled out in the first half.

If Battier, Lowry, and Ariza had been available, the perimeter defense would've been just fine.

Which is why we will see alot more batrizza on the court, but then we'll just struggle to score again

We have too many one dimensional players .

I think even if Martin was an average defender, there would still be some lack of cohesiveness.

    Rockets do not have
    Landry
    Ariza
    Lowry
    Battier

Thats half the regular rotation that started the season. Rockets are almost playing with a whole new team.

Before tonight's game (in which our defensive quite obviously sucked), the Rockets allowed 117 points per 100 defensive possessions with Brooks and Martin in the backcourt. That is over 171 defensive possessions, 80 minutes, so its a small sample.

For the season, the Rockets allow 107 points per 100 defensive possessions.

You could certainly make that argument. Bye bye playoffs. :(
8th seed if we are lucky......then Ron and the Lakers can kick our ass. ;)

Except not? Brooks will play the 1 (sometimes Lowry if Aaron is getting abused or needs a rest), Martin will play the two, and Battriza will play the three.

Battier and Ariza are good offensive roleplayers and when they play the three they can guard the opposing team's best wing, which takes pressure off of Martin.

I'm not sure why this concept is so hard for people to grasp.
