Same can be said with the grizzlies and hornets. We always make trades with them.

It's definitely Adelman and not exclusively the Kings. E.G. Bobby Jackson.

Does Kenny Smith count? He had a layover in Atlanta.

Ralph Sampson: Rockets > Warriors > Kings
Pete Chilcutt: Kings > Pistons > Rockets

Maxwell eventually ended up on the Kings.

Antoine Carr, Jon Barry, Brent Price, Tony Massenberg, Kenny Thomas, and Walt Williams also played for both teams.

Morey has a good working relationship with the Kings organization. He mentioned during today's press conference that they are easy to deal with and that the Rockets are pretty much always talking to them.

I believe this is the correct answer for the current situation.

I think both Morey and Petrie understand that both of them are smart guys, and they know how each other value players, assets, etc., so there's no need to BS around. A deal might not get done or might have to wait for a while to get done, but these guys seem to understand each other.

In the end, it seems both teams get fair value in these deals.

Petrie did go to Princeton. Not sure if it proves he's smart, but certainly is an indicator he probably did better on the SATs than the average pro-ball execs out there.

    It's not Adleman...it's his system.

Adelman runs a system that requires some time for players to learn. Phil Jackson is the same (triangle offense is hard for some players).

That's why, we usually grab players who already understand the system (ex-Sac players) or pick players that are smarter than the usual bunch (Brooks, Landry, Budinger, etc...). Joey Dorsey did not fit this mold.

This is another reason why I was against grabbing Tyrus Thomas. He may be slightly smarter than Swift but if he can't function in a simple system, he wouldn't survive in the Rockets system.

Going after Martin was the right thing to do because Adelman already molded him to fit his system back in Sac. Also his shooting ability will fit in well with Yao.

Exactly how much PT did Martin get with Adelman before? I remember his last year there they had Bonzi and Artest, and both those guys logged extensive minutes.
