Interested to see how he and Brooks play together, particularly with Yao, who needs someone to feed him the ball. A lot of PnRs I suppose.

Martin should thrive when together on the floor with Lowry. I worry about Lowry's effectiveness though when Yao's clogging up the middle and needs 3-pt shooters to space the floor for him.

The horrible defense and possible quitting has me nervous as hell. I trust that Morey and Adelman know what the real deal is because I don't buy that they would trade for a soft quitter after what we just went through with Tslack.

We all need to remember that Adelman coached Martin for two years and knows far more about the kid than any scouting reports can tell us.

    In Rick I trust.

Dude is def a flopper. THat part is spot on, he plays very similar style to Corey Maggete. He tries to run into people, and generally it works for the first 3 quarters. He's not a guy you can really count on late in games, this is where Aaron's gonna have to be our guy. In other news.....IM STILL DISTRAUGHT OVER LOSING LANDRY !

I don't think guys like Shane and Chuck will allow him to slack off on D. They will rub off on him or get on his ass. Even T-Mac, before McGate, became a better defender when JVG gave the team a defensive first attitude. Kevin Martin does remind me of a Reggie/Rip combo with more athleticism. Perfect fit for the inside/outside game with Yao.

The Rockets effect will make him a better player I'm certain. I think players perform better in the Adelman system because of how they are managed. He is a brilliant man who knows how to get the best out of people

cept Ariza but time will tell on that I suppose.

When a player takes more responsability on the offense, it's checked that he lowers his level at the other end. We've seen that this season in Carl Landry. Martin was treated as a franchise guy but he isn't. Hopefully he will be more solid here, playing alongside Battier/Ariza too.

Battier and Ariza being your teammate should automatically make u a better defender. Look at Bud, he was atrocious to begin the season, now has already shown improvement. As long as you have lateral quickness, you can be taught defense.

I know people will say this is overrated, but we've added another beta male. One of the reason i liked Butler is because he's a tough guy. Martin is a good player, but he's somewhat of a softie. I like his skill and the trade in general, but i hope everything works out.

the team is good enough defensively to make up for his deficiencies. The best part about having him is that it put someone else in the starting lineup other than brooks who can create a shot for himself or possibly others. It takes pressure off AB, making him play better. It takes the ball OUT of Ariza's hands thus making him play better. I like the fit, but I still miss Landry.

I hope Yao won't get too much foul trouble due to the poor perimeter defense of Brooks and Martin.

I think Brooks has become a much better defender this season, and let's not judge Martin's defense until he plays a few games here.
