My friend lives overseas in the Caribbean and he wants to buy an AK-47. He wanted to me to buy the weapon and ship it over. A few questions: 1) How much is a low range AK-47 cost at a local gun show? 2) Is it illegal to ship weapons overseas in the mail, even if weapons are allowed in his country? 3) Do I need to have some sort of license to buy the weapon? Or just an ID?
yeah it is not legal at all. You are welcome for my non smarty pants answer. I skipped the cost question but the ID question you will just need a DL and your other info and pass a NICS background check.
what does your friend need an AK47 for? why not get an UZI? I would not buy a killing machine for someone else.. as good of a friend they are, they might misuse it.
AK-47? Did you even ask him what it's for? <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/rKg9SoVyE9g&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/rKg9SoVyE9g&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I know a guy who, back in the '90s, realized he could sell handguns in Mexico for a lot more than they'd cost him here. He bought 50 pistols and drove down to Mexico only to get caught by the tipped-off border control. He went to prison for a couple of years. Btw, have you noticed those posters in the post offices that list things that are never legal to ship by mail? Guns are at the top of the list.
I can't stop asking myself how a person would ever think this was a good idea or even consider it....
