I love the mans defense, intangibles, hustle, passion, ect but do you guys think it is time to trade Battier at the deadline?

Obviously, he isn't getting any better, his three points shooting is starting to decline as well. He still gives us great defense, but I would love to trade him for a guy who can shoot the 3, dribble the ball, and play defense as well. When Pistons traded Aaron Afflalo away to Denver, I knew Denver got a great pickup. He plays defense, and he shoots the 3 very well, which we need in our system.

Do you think we should trade Battier by the trade deadline and get some value?

I'd say it seems to be a good idea. We are not a true contender this year barring a miracle run even though anything can happen. Yao next year is a question mark and it would be nice to be able to free some cap space to sign a better piece. Maybe a trade of Battier for an expiring or two would work out and would allow us to make a better run at a Chris Bosh, Joe Johnson or Rudy Gay during the offseason.

I said yes, but only for the right deal......because if you are looking to rebuild if Yao is unable to come back his contract expires the same time, for more cap space to rebuild with...

Personally I would trade Trevor first.

Should have never traded for for him on the first place we needed a 3rd scorer at the time not a intangible guy.

Shane is a great leader and has defined what a "glue guy" is suppose to be BUT his value is on a championship team this season we are not that team. If Morey trades him i'll be shocked but he should.

The time to trade Shane was before the season started when his value was at its peak. Now the whole league has video that shows that he is declining.

Define "trade him." If we get the right deal for Shane, sure. Morey's himself said it. If your name's not Lebron, you're not untradeable. Pretty simple.

Now trade him for what? It's not like Shane is a net negative to the Rockets as a whole ( if you do claim this, I will laugh at you.) Therefore, we shouldn't be trading Shane for the sake of trading as we could do with McGrady. So, if we trade him, then for what? And concrete answers, please, not ZOMG BATMAN SUX!!!!!

We've always considered offers for him just like everyone else, but we're not going to trade him just to get rid of him.

Can't believe everyone on ClutchFans would trade battier! Even you DD, I'm ashamed.

The reason Shane is put on the spot light so much it because of his scoring ability. That is EASILY the only reason why everyone is so down on him. When Mcgrady and Yao at their best, he was never asked or needed to score effectively, thus the spotlight wasn't on him.

Even the Shane and Gay comment wasn't mentioned when the rockets were playing great last year. Well, it happend once and most people bashed the Gay fans out of here..... Until now.

Basically, its easy to point out the flaws on someone who does not have a go to guy, settle down guys, he and everyone else is being asked to climb mountains when in reality only most can barely make it half way with scoring.

    Last:
Don't let shane go, he IS the glue. Locker room presence is more than meets the eye. Most underlook that attribute, mosly because most have never played sports higher than high school. It's a BIG deal.

The problem is the Rockets can't trade anyone. They are all valued like garbage (except possibly for Landry), because of their recent play. If we try to trade garbage, we'll end up with garbage.

Pretty much. As soon as yao was pronounced out for the year, they should've offered him for raja bell and aijinca. Bell expires and aa is a young 7ft er. Trade or let mcgrady expire and now u have some real money in free agency.

It is a big deal but there is a diminishing role for him on a weak team. If we don't get a replacement for Tracy, there is no need for him. Yao and co will never be enough. Shane and Luis should go to a contender,we should rebuild if we can't add more talent. No one wants to admit to this, and there no reason for anyone to be ashamed for pointing this out.

    Trade priority:

    Ariza > Battier > TMac.

You can't have both Ariza and Battier on the same team together making $14Mil for next season. I think trading Battier is probably the best way to get cap relief or to get some asset in return. The only problem is you have to find a contender that's willing to trade for him that has something to offer you...

Now Battier comes in to be the scapegoat.

Battier needs to play alongside real stars, do the little things for them. Current team don't have one. He is a glue guy, but there is nothing to glue here, everybody is a role player.

That being said, Battier is not untouchable.
