AB is an emerging player, but suffers from being a SG in a PG's body. I have serious doubts as to whether his scoring is enough to offset his defensive liabilities, particularly given the type of contract he might command later.
If I'm shaping a team based on our current assets, I would have Lowry be our starting PG at 30+ mpg. He is a better passer, dictator of tempo, defender and does everything better except shoot, but that's damn important. We'd need to pair him with a SG that could score from distance.
What is fair value for AB based on his performance to date?
- Tmac/AB for Kevin Martin/Kenny Thomas' expiring and Sacto's 2011 first round pick
- AB for Anthony Randolph straight up? (stirring up some debate there!!)
- AB for Nicolas Batum (prolly not enough value there)
- Tmac/AB for Luol Deng and John Salmons. AB and Rose would be dynamic and we'd have a very good player at a reasonable price.
I'm tossing up some stuff against the wall here but I think I may be undervaluing AB. I'd like to hear some ideas.

With Yao we need shooters, such as AB. Lowry works a ton better with Landry/Budinger.

I really don't think AB is going anywhere, but we will know in about a week. Out of your options, I guess I would take the K-mart trade, but none of these scenarios would really interest me.

if ab goes, Ariza has to go with him. You cannot start two bad shooters of Lowry and Ariza

Anthony Randolph could miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury, so why in the world we trade him straight up for Anthony Randolph?
With Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry why would they want to make that trade?

No offense, but I really wish you would proof-read before you post. This isn't a race, and it makes you look slightly more intelligent.

Find a way to turn Brooks and McGrady into Jefferson and Rubio (not that I like or care about Rubio) and that just might work.

We wouldn't. They wouldn't. All this speculation is hurting my head.

It is lunacy!
AB is growing into an all star player, enjoy the danged ride.
In the meantime Lowry can keep improving his shot from the bench.
It is like the backup QB argument in football.
Lowry is a backup for a reason.

Horrible idea. last time i checked our management is the best at finding diamonds in the rough. give up a late first rounder (chase and landry were both 2nd rounders) and brooks for a higher pick. A.B. is one of the top pg's in the league averaging 19.5ppg and 5 assist(actually getting some notice as a possible all-star), and as of now hes the only pg on our payroll next season. You are way undervaluing A.B.

Agreed. Trade just about the only player who can create his own shot.

AB is so much better than all of those scrubs you named. Get real. The guy is on the brink of being an All-Star, and you throw names out there of guys that cant even get a starting job on a bad team. C'mon.
Keep AB. He is a special player!

Aaron is the future of this team no point in moving him in my opinion but I'd like to see the organization bring in a 6-4 or 6-5 PG in and move Aaron to SG. If we could some how wind up with John Wall or Ricky Rubio we would be more than set.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that Brooks is the only reason (other than Landry) that we have done good this season... The Brooks and Lowry duo is almost perfect..... Lets just be patient and wait for Yao to get back... For now, Brooks and Lowry continue to get better....

No one is off limits for the right price but the closest players to that on this squad would be Yao and Brooks.
Strictly my opinion but I believe he will be an all-star sooner then later.
