i still am rooting for the best draft position possible. the guys on this team are great and are fun to watch. to do as well as these have with two max players out is astounding.

if the GM of this team morey plays his cards right with trades and free agents. in addition to what i hope is a good player drafted next year i think the sky is the limit for this team in the near future.

if i had to guess we will probably end up with about the 7th pick this year. yes i do see a collapse coming. in my opinion i think the guys will wear out substantially in the coming weeks.

i highly doubt this thread will be popular. but its what i want to see happen and i think its best for the team to get a good player. as it stands if these players continue to play as well as they are i think they may getting some contracts that they may or may not deserve.

There's no point in watching if you don't want your team to win.

This philosophy essentially erases an entire year of basketball for you - is that worth it?

We're not tanking. When will you people get that into your heads?

I will never understand someone calling himself a fan and cheering for losses.

its a personal opinion. i dont get mad when they win, like i did for an example when the jazz have beaten them over and over in the playoffs. i just prefer them to lose then to say barely miss the playoffs and have say the 15th pick in next years draft.

I can't sit here and actually pull for the Rockets to lose. Don't see how any fan could.

Good draft picks don't guarantee success, as the Clippers have shown. Its just a shame. This team is all about heart and hustle, and we have fans that are actually wanting them to lose. I understand your point on wanting the team to get a better pick to help the team out in the future, but that's not a guarantee.

I admit, I've struggled with this myself. I love the Rockets, but I want us to build a championship contender.. and I just don't see us doing that picking in the 20s every draft.

I don't think rooting for a better draft pick disqualifies you as a fan -- in that case, it's more about the long-term picture/success than the immediate season.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, dont quite make sense when ya think on it.

But I do half see where your coming from, it is obvious we can't win a championship but aren't bad enough to get a high draft pick, think about it like this, 3/4ths of our roster is valuable as all get out and will allow us to make moves we would have addressed in the draft...hopefully.

exactly i would love for tmac and yao to be playing. it really saddens me that they havent had a least one normal season together except for the first season that tracy played here.

and i also understand losing breeds bad things but i dont think that is or would be the mindset because of the injuries of the two best players.

You only find jewels in the draft every so often. This isn't 1984-1986 and we won't be selecting Hakeem, Charles or Michael Jordan.

I agree with the majority of posters in this thread. The NBA is a competitive league. You don't just *plan* to lose in order to select a college player who has a 50/50 chance of being a dud.

Who wants to see them make the 8th seed in the playoffs and get blown out in a sweep? I sure don't. I've already written this season off in my mind. It was nice seeing them over-achieve for a while, but we all knew it wouldn't last without a taller center/shot-blocker and a better shooter from the outside.

I will only cheer for wins if Morey finally makes a trade for a legit player/'s that I believe will carry us deeper than the first round of the playoffs this year!

If not, I will cheer for the success of our team in the future which includes working to obtain a higher draft pick in next year's draft.

well maybe somewhat of the opposite is true and that these guys are playing and driving there trade value up by getting more minutes then they really should get and inflating there stats.

You really think the Rockets are going to win 40 games and then draft a difference maker? Slim odds, guy.

So you will go against your own team and root against them and be happy if they lose and mad if they win?

We want the best thing for the organization. In some fans opinion, the best thing for the organization isn't to sneak into the 8th spot and lose in the first round. As a fan, your mindset should be "Championship or Bust" -- we should never settle for mediocrity (at least we made the 8th seed!).

The mindset is that getting into the lottery, who knows where we would draft. At least it gives us a chance. The Rockets decicded to win their final game of 05-06, and it cost them Brandon Roy. Fans like you would have been happy that we won the game -- fans like us were pissed that we shot ourselves in the foot. Admittedly, that was a different scenario (we were out of the playoffs already so winning did little) but the premise is basically the same.

Obviously, you don't want to create a losing culture. I don't think the Rockets have that whatsoever - Adelman/Morey are constantly on them, pushing them for the playoffs. I'm OK with that - I don't want my coach/GM to come outright and say "lose this game!" -- but it certainly doesn't bother me if they continue to lose.

I don't root for them to lose.. but I don't get upset when they do. If anything, it sets them up to be in a better position next year. I don't have any expectations for this year's team.. but I really don't want to see them get the 8th seed and be bounced out in the first round. I'd take the higher draft pick and chance at a Top 3 pick any day before that.

I guess you need to define difference maker.

I consider Manu, Parker, Brooks, Scola, Landry, Boozer, AK47, Rashard etc... as difference makers. Brooks was the highest draft pick among that bunch. Furthermore it has been proven that if you are an annual participant in the lottery then you are doomed to stay in the lottery. Just look at LAC who are annual Lottery participants and have had some pretty forgettable picks including number 1 overall Michael Olowokandi.

No way that we end up the 7th pick. I say we easily make the playoffs assuming Morey pulls the trigger on a Mcgrady deal.
