Lack of realism in commercials

    This is a totally random topic that I just happened to be thinking about today and thought might be fun to discuss.

    What are some of the unrealistic things we see in commercials?

    The one that sparked this thread are toothpaste commercials where no one ever actually has toothpaste in their mouth after brushing.

    I've noticed that I tend to avoid purchasing products that mention decrease in semen as a common side effect.

    Wearing Axe deodorant gets you women.. a sad number of guys in college and even until their 30s I've heard fall for this marketing gimmick.

    In toy commercials, the play lands the kids are in are sprawling and laden with all kinds of cool landscaping that you've NEVER seen anywhere. All kinds of trenches and mesas and canals and natural springs...

    I hate it when companies try to use an incredibly short time frame to shame/confuse/guilt/embarrass me into buying a product*

    *note: this is not sarcasm, I have a very highly advanced level of shame

    Tampons make you want to go to night clubs and play tennis and meet lots of new people.


    All they did was make me walk funny.....

    Another one is that 99% of people in fast food and pizza commercials are of normal weight. There are no McDonald's or Pizza Hut commercials featuring the 400lb behemoths that regularly inhabit those establishments.

    Still haven't quite figured out why the Cialis commercials always have a couple sitting outside on a hill somewhere in bathtubs. Separate bathtubs at that.

    Holy crap commercials not realistic!? Who would ever think that advertizers would portray a false sense of realism to get people to buy their products..

    I've heard this complaint from a lot of people, but I've never had a problem with eating taco bell.

    This has been bothering me for a while as well.
