Impressive, Microsoft countered Sony with an equally compelling price cut and it seemed to work out beautifully. I honestly thought that the Playstation brand was big enough to put them over the hump but damn people keep buying that Xbox in droves...incredible.
That's actually pretty surprising. I thought PS3 would get at least another 'bump' in November while December might swing back to XBOX. Maybe it'll be the other way around, who knows. A shame to see Uncharted 2 already out of the top 10, but not surprising. and holy crap at MW2's numbers.
Because it's cheap, and more importantly, it has the largest library of quality games of any system in history... by a mile.
Hard to argue that. I plan on picking one up sometime before they go out of production. My old fatty is still chugging, but it's only a matter of time.
I have one of the first ps2's...love that thing, even though I dont play, haha. I still have it hooked up and ready to go and I would love to play if it wasnt for the massive influx of games recently. I'll get around to playing one of the classics soon enough.
Throwing in some extra numbers I saw mentioned in the NeoGAF thread (don't really have sources for each number, would have to dig through the thread I suppose): From "Road". Wasn't in there, but apparently UC2 sold only an extra 113K in November: http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-...er~y2009m12d11-Sonys-firstparty-woes-continue Was disappointed it didn't chart, but I figured that maybe it it was just outside the top 10, selling maybe ~300K or so. It is up to ~1.4M worldwide, so don't think the franchise is in jeopardy or anything. But disappointing given how good the game is. Also saw these November US (NPD) + Japan (Media-Create) sales for hardware, so I'll throw them in for those of you that are curious: Code: TOTAL US JAPAN NDS 2,031,000 = 1,700,000 + 331,000 PSP 466,900 = 293,900 + 173,000 WII 1,398,000 = 1,260,000 + 138,000 PS3 879,400 = 710,400 + 169,000 360 836,500 = 819,500 + 17,000 PS2 211,100 = 203,100 + 8,000 Thanks to "Road" again.
Don't know if I'd use the word "amazing". But yes, that is a surprising stat. Probably so. No real numbers on this, but it was implied that PS3 sold more during the week of Black Friday. So 360 probably did better in the beginning of the month, which it likely did thanks to the MW2 bundle.
