From stats provided at PopcornMachine.net (here), I tabulated Rockets stats, by quarter, for games through 12/5/09. I present them below, ordering the rows by total minutes played in a given quarter. All the stats are per-36 minutes. +/- and TS% are also provided. GS refers to Hollinger's Game Score rating. From the basketball-reference glossary:

    [rquoter]
    Game Score; the formula is PTS + 0.4 * FG - 0.7 * FGA - 0.4*(FTA - FT) + 0.7 * ORB + 0.3 * DRB + STL + 0.7 * AST + 0.7 * BLK - 0.4 * PF - TOV.

Game Score was created by John Hollinger to give a rough measure of a player's productivity for a single game. The scale is similar to that of points scored, i.e., 40 is an outstanding performance, 10 is an average performance, etc. [/rquoter]

This basically confirms that Landry has been a stud in the fourth quarters. Lowry has been very good also.

More like when teams starts playing serious defense; our two foul drawing players in Landry and Lowry perform the best.

It also confirms that our team has no real offensive player, ie Brooks and Ariza's offense doesn't work when most NBA players are trying [80% of the NBA players are capable of playing solid defense]

Wow the evidence is really mounting now. I had been checking out the teams clutch stats and was thinking about making thread revolving around the Landry vs Scola in the clutch issue. Landry's efficiency has been remarkable late in games.

    Good Thread.

Landry, Lowry, and Andersen show their winning mentality. I also think, if Ariza didn't take too many shots, he would be a more efficient player.

Someone once told Brian Cook he was a basketball player. They lied to him.

    Just looking at Ariza's numbers:
Seems like he is a first-half guy. Comes out to play hard for the first 24 minutes, is probably warmed after the pre-game shoot around, and makes his shots. His turnovers are lower but still too high. Doesn't matter.
Keep him shooting from the beginning to end; that's how he had the high scoring games, he just kept getting the ball and shooting/driving for to stay hot. And he will develop well.

It's funny how the numbers die in the 3rd quarter which clearly reflects the period in which the team initially had problems with.

Keep in mind that Brooks plays more in the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter, when the opposing team is more likely to play their starters.

I thought I'd go a little deeper into describing when our main rotations players are getting their minutes. The above stats shows a break down by quarter, but to get a better sense of the rotation I broke down the minutes into 3-minute segments (except I combined the last 3 minutes of the 4th quarter and any overtime minutes). Again, all data taken from Popcorn Machine.

I woulda said Ariza, and who knows, later on in the season you might start to see him on the floor during crunch time.

So the team play the worst in the 2nd Q, average in the 3rd Q, very good in 1st Q and excellent in the final Q.

The rotations chart for Brooks and Lowry is almost comical in the way the paths are mirrored.

As a team, they are +1 in the first quarter, -1.0 in the second quarter, +0.2 in the 3rd quarter, and +2.3 in the 4th quarter.

    http://www.hoopsstats.com/basketball/fantasy/nba/houston-rockets/team/quarters/10/10/1

So, yeah, multiply those by 3 to make it per-36, and it will roughly mirror the per-36 +/- of the players in the original post.
