I received a letter from the Kinkaid community asking for my support to remove the Kinkaid Principal and Headmaster over a canceled Pep Rally!
It's a really strong movement organized by the Kinkaid mothers. The letter even questions the character of the student president!

I graduated from Kinkaid High School a while back and I'm happy with it... but firing people for canceling a Pep Rally? A Pep Rally?! Not a game, not a game. We talkin' about Pep Rallying. (reputation points to whoever names the reference)

The letter has 4 pages out of 5 talking about the canceled Pep Rally as proper cause for firing the two. Which is a bit hard to believe. But in the conclusion we're told more.

(Excerpt from the) Conclusion:

"The pep rally incident is just a symptom of a broader problem. As I said in the opening paragraph of this letter, this is not about a pep rally. When a small group can force their agenda on the whole school, we have lost control of our school. In our rush to be “politically correct,” we have become obsessed about pacifying even the most extreme of views—even if they are far from representative of the core values and character of Kinkaid families and alumni. By standing for everything, we actually stand for nothing.

What happened to our ability to laugh at ourselves and have fun? What happened to common sense and good judgment? Why is a married, heterosexual coach considered an oddity at Kinkaid? Why is a gay female coach telling high school girls on her team that she was disappointed in them for belonging to the spirit club (SOK) and that by doing so they are just pandering to the football team?"

As for the letter, if moms are going to sit down and write a FIVE PAGE letter and mail it out, then they got more issues (i.e. mental) at hand than a cancelled pep rally.

"Not an IB class or a Kaplan SAT Prep test, like I go out there and study every lecture note and vocabulary term like it's my whole Dartmouth application, we talkin' bout pep rallies."

Yeah, this is why yankees invented boarding schools. Underage drug use and group sex in the Massachuesetts countryside vs. overbearing parents. What the heck kind of country club hayseed spends $10/20 grand a year only to b**** about pep rallies? Would they like more shop and home ec classes too? Maybe an HCC or San Jac booth on college night?

Isn't that pretty much what this group is trying to do themselves?

A long time ago, back when the tip jar first became fashionable, I decided to pay my dues to the website.
I didn't want to wear the "contributing member" badge as some status symbol to get respekt. I wanted them to respekt the hand, not the money.

HOWEVER, with that money I decided to have a new membership created so I could get on clutchfans whenever the board locks up due to high traffic or when I need a search done.
Otherwise the moniker has not been used before.

So yes, I have reputation points.

And I'm going to make it rain.

What was the school's reason for canceling the pep rally?

As a member of the school right now:

The principle OK'd the pep rally in the beginning of the week, including the skit in question. However, a little bit before the pep rally, a few students and maybe a teacher or two (Nobody knows who) apparently made a strong enough case against the pep rally for the principle to feel strongly enough to cancel it. The skit was supposed to be about a 'gay' kid, and all the football players dressed up as women. Apparently, the principle thought it was offensive to women. He acted on what he thought was best to the community.

Once he realized the fiasco he had created, the principle came to all the advisories and apologized personally. This was not the headmaster's decision. I don't understand why the parents are mad at him over the pep rally. He himself has stated he does not agree with the principle's decision to cancel the pep rally. Obviously the problem is more deep-rooted as some feel the school is putting pressure on those that are not minorities by promoting 'too much diversity' (Some even want clubs like Chinese Club, Greek Club shut down).

We've been having optional meetings after school where a LOT of students have showed up and voiced their opinions about the whole situation. Everything should be under control about now if this were a different school, but this is Kinkaid, and it won't blow over until 'something gets done'.

Stupid principal. Doesn't he know that high school determines who you are and what you do in life.

I thought a pep rally was when the football players got in front of the school and gave speeches like "We're playin' good but we can play gooder if ya'll come out and support us." What is this ***** about a sketch about a gay kid? Also, nobody who organizes a pep rally has any business trying to write a sketch or a comedy routine.

The funniest people in school are the ones who sit in the back of the pep rally and do the snarky dismissive hand wank every time a football player or a cheerleader speaks:

The principal and headmaster should have their asses kissed for sparing everybody from what was most likely a horribly unfunny "sketch."
