Not bad for a 48th pick. Good shooting around the rim, nice rebounding and nice passing. Pau wasn't lying when he said that Memphis got more than most thought they did because Marc was pretty good.
The Rockets bought the 31st (Landry) and 54th pick (Newley) in that draft. Nothing to complain about in Landry, but man, if they only had bought another pick before 48th and got Marc Gasol. Nobody is right all the time.

Sun Yue > Marc Gasol (at least in lakers eyes back then, 40th vs 48th)

I wonder if the Lakers could have retained Gasol and used someone else as filler. They'd be decent right now with two Gasol's. Like an ostrich farm.

He's a lot tougher than his brother meaning not soft. I liked him last year even with the extra weight ... you can just see the potential. I saw him last night for a moment and he looked in shape. It could mean a good year for him.

I wonder if we could snag Mbenga from the Fakers somehow, someway, for an athletic, active big next year (to take Dorsey's role, and expand upon it)...

He was a steal in my fantasy baskbetball draft. His PPG may go down but I still see him as a double double guy.

He's definitely in a better shape than last year. Last year he cleared a specifically challenging conditioning test in 62 seconds. His coach wanted him to hit 60. This year, he cleared it in 58!
