So last night I felt like something or someone was breathing heavily down my neck. At first I thought someone was giving me a kiss on the cheek. Then it felt like someone was slothering my face, as if someone was on top of me. I was conscious but i couldnt move or talk. Once I regained movement about 2 minutes later i felt the same heavy breathing and could not move again. I did not see any hallucinations I just felt like there was a presence there. It was kind of freaky. anyone ever experienced something similar?

Yeah happens sometimes. It's when you are awake but your brain still thinks you are asleep. So it controls your breathing and movement for you. Since you are conscious again, but your brain is still in control, you can't move or breathe on your own. It is still scary though. I always think I won't be able to breathe and just die lol.
It happened to me a few years ago when I was stationed in England. Basically, I woke up or thought I did in the middle of the night unable to move. The more I fought it, the less control I had. I started to freak out and just when the tension was built up, everything was calm and I was awake. I'm still not sure if it was a dream or not, but I stayed up the rest of the night watching TV with the lights on.
Actually no. http://www.experiencefestival.com/a/Sleep_paralysis_-_Cultural_references/id/599644 Check your facts, son!
I actually started a thread on my experience with it here several years ago. I fell asleep on the floor of my bedroom and woke up and tried to get in the bed but could not move any of my extremities. It was certainly weird.
I get this sh** a lot and I react the same way. I hate it. Usually I just give in and try to go back to sleep even though the natural reaction is to panic. If my wife is next to me, I will give a loud moaning sound to wake her up, and then she shakes me to wake me up. It's hard to relax and go back to sleep whenever it happens. The worst is when it happens on a plane.
I have had it many times through out my life. It actually happens to me alot when I have irregular sleeping schedule. I also seem to have it more often when I am stressed out with school / work. But... I have learned to enjoy it rather than freaking out about it. It's a pretty cool experience once you recognize what's happenign at the time.
I've had this happen but only when I'm absolutely dead tired. I can see but I can't move and my speech is slurred. Really freaks me out.
Did you see any shadow people? My brother in law swears he was visited by the hat man a few years ago right before his grandfather passed away. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_people http://www.thehatmanproject.com/articles.shtml
As this condition has been closely tied to sleep deprivation, that's not too surprising. Maintaining a regular sleep schedule can reduce or even eliminate the symptoms of this condition (and, for that matter, many other sleep disorders) in many cases. That's not so good. Could be an early indicator of narcolepsy. You might want to have a sleep-study performed. I just had one this summer, and I'm sleeping better than I have since I was a teenager (a long, long time ago).
Had this experience in August. I was sleeping in the basement and I remember hearing loud footsteps upstairs, as if someone was running (this was at 2am by the way, with everyone else in the house asleep). I was thinking how weird this was, then I saw a dark shadow come across the room to the foot of my bed. I don't remember seeing this shadow's face but somehow I knew it was a little boy. Of course I was extremely freaked out and I tried to move, but I couldn't. I was even trying to yell but somehow it felt as if the words were just getting trapped at the top of my throat and I couldn't get them out. Tried to sit up actually but this "boy" put a finger to my chest and somehow held me down. I don't know how much time had passed but eventually I was able to yell out a loud 'No!' and kicked out at the shadow, which somehow vanished. Needlessly to say I was extremely freaked out for the rest of the night. I'm pretty sure I was awake before and during this whole event, but I guess it's possible that I could have drifted off to sleep before. Still, I'm certain it wasn't a dream (I vividly remember the finger on my chest, it hurt, and my parents sleeping upstairs said they had heard me yell out).
