We've got 15 spots and 14 players (listed below): andersen-hayes-yao scola-landry-dorsey shane-budinger-cook tmac-ariza-jt brooks-lowry It's all but a done deal that Barry wont be here this year. That leaves one spot open to fight for in camp. The contenders? Pops Mensah-Bonsu Will Conroy Garrett Temple Romel Beck Note: sorry that the links are from different sites. I tried to choose the site that would be most informative given the player. For example, NBA.com wasn't very informative about Will Conroy given that Conroy only played 7 games at 7 minutes per game in his NBA career. Feel free to post videos, links, updates from camp, etc...
I knew Pops would be the favorite when I started this thread, but my vote is still for Conroy. Morey usually keeps a balanced roster and if anything were to happen to one of our PG's we would be in big trouble without a 3rd. Plus, there are a lot of guys who are playing the 4/5 already. I understand the need for shot blocking, but can Pops beat out Scola, Landry, Andersen, or Hayes for minutes? If not then I don't think that Morey will create a logjam upfront when he can play it safe with Conroy. Just my 2 cents.
It's hard see Cook fitting in anywhere on this team. I say he gets cut, and Pops and Will Conroy make the team. Pops is a energy guy, fits in perfectly with our team. And Will Conroy would give us a 2nd TRUE point guard, other than just Kyle Lowry.
smoothie, thanks for the links. t-mac4bigmac I agree. I cant see any possible outcome where Cook is still on the team. Of the 4, Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Will Conroy, Garrett Temple and Romel Beck Conroy has the best chance followed closely by Pops. PF or Center : andersen-hayes-pops-scola-landry SF - shane-budinger SG - tmac-ariza-jt PG - brooks-lowry It would be nice if dorsey found his way onto the court but we will probably see alot of: anderson, hayes anderson, scola scola, landry scola, pops landry, hayes landry, pops and never ever pops, hayes
You have to take into consideration Cook's contract. He's has a expiring contract worth 3.5 million, which teams will want near the deadline. So, only way I see Cook not being a Rocket is if he's traded.
Pops cause he's got a cool name! (and actually because he seems like the best-suited player for our team)
I think Ariza would start over Battier.... C-Andersen-Hayes-Pops-Dorsey PF-Scola SF-Ariza SG-McGrady PG-Brooks -rocketblaze
Morey said a few weeks back that Pops has the inside track at making the team. That would be the smart bet.
Hopefully none of them ever play significant minutes for the Rockets. If they do I will know we are lotto bound.
Dorsey isn't eligible for d league service anymore. Drafted players can only spend their first 2 years there.
