READ THE ENTIRE POST AND GIVE ME YOUR FEEDBACK Let's start getting organized folks. Site/Format: Fanstar H2H Number of teams: 16 teams (roughly $4.11/per team). Team payment can be made through Paypal. I'll shoot out the payment info once we have all teams reserved. Schedule: 21 week regular season. Proposed Playoff Schedule: Solution 1: Stay with 4 divisions. 8 teams make the playoffs (4 division winners + 4 wildcards). Solution 2: Have 2 divisions instead of 4. 6 teams make the playoffs (2 division winners + 4 wildcards). Division winners get a first round bye in the playoffs. Solution 3: Have 2 divisions instead of 4. 4 teams make the playoffs (2 division winners + 2 wildcards). Player Position Determination: ESPN Player Profiles Draft begins: Thursday October 8th at 7pm (tentatively). Draft pick time limit: 12 hours per pick. I am not going to change the time limit so save the b****ing about it. I highly encourage everyone to send a list to either myself or someone that picks behind you. If you are at the end of a round where you pick twice and you are skipped, you are skipped for both picks immediately. That's the price you pay for getting to pick back to back. The draft is live and SLOW, so expect delays. We always get through the draft with a day or so to spare and I expect the same this year. Roster/Lineup: 12 active players per roster 1 IR spot for an injured player 5 starters (C/PF/SF/SG/PG) and 3 flex players per game Scoring Rules: Points 1 Assists 2 Rebounds 2 Steals 2 Blocks 2 Three Pointers Made 1 Turnovers -1 Technical Fouls -3 Thoughts? Suggestions? Perhaps 2 divisions with first place winners and runners-up going to the playoffs? Last year we had the following managers that have the first option to claim a spot: *RocketsPimp *Fadeaway *Moe *Shaggy *Ziggy *Rocketball ChrisJent PSJ SamCassell Matador Longhorn Fan Darkhorse l3buddah Flinttown nWo TheCat Alright, who is in?
I'm still heartbroken about last year, which really devastated me, but I'll be back. 2 things: 1. The 4 divisions with only each division winner making the playoffs system utilized last year was very flawed and should be changed. I can see three solutions: Solution 1: Stay with 4 divisions. Personally, I like Solution 2. I think there should be some sort of bonus for winning your division and a first round bye would be pretty sweet. Having only 4 teams make the playoffs seems a bit low for a league of this size. I mean, we have 4 teams make the playoffs in my 8 team baseball league. 2. The "phantom" third IR spot thing was whack and created too much confusion. Just have the regular 2 IR spots and that's it.
I'm in, and as usual I think fade brings up some good points. Not having a wildcard frustrated me last season as I quickly had no shot at the playoffs at all even though I was in the top 3 in total points. That is my only gripe right now. I'm glad you decided to run things again Pimp, you do a great job.
Good suggestions Fade and I agree that more teams in the playoffs makes it that much more involved. I think I like #1 better just because it's non-stop. #2 is good too though. Keep the feedback comin' ya'll.
I like Solution 2 the best. First Round Byes are a good rewards for Division Winners to ensure they have an easier path to the finals, but it also gives more participants a chance.
One thing that bugged me last year was it seemed like a few owners hogged the waiver wire and picked up a lot of the good pickups before other team owners had I chance. No offense to those owners that picked up players quicker. Good for them, but I would recommend it being more fair to put a time limit in for pickups so a few owners (that may have more time and access to internet at all hours) don't grab all the good waiver wire pickups before owners that may be more occupied with other things a chance to get good pickups. If possible to set-up, I'd recommend a 24-36 hour wait between pickups. So say if "owner A" picked-up a player he would have to wait 36 hours before picking up another player. I don't know if this is possible with Fanstar, but I think it would be more fair.
Matador, I suppose that means you are in? Thoughts on Matador's suggestion? The site admins say it's either worst-to-first or no hold. If we used worst-to-first, we'd have to agree on a cutoff day so that everyone would have time to set their lineups after the waiver moves have been completed. I'd rather stick with what we have because I do not like worst-to-first waivers and the current setup allows us to make lineup adjustments up until the deadline on Mondays.
FYI, I am opening the league up to new people on Monday if the previous team owners haven't responded by then.
Actually we do have one open spot. I forgot I kicked l3uddahboy out last year for bailing on his team midseason. Whoever wants in, please read the first post to make sure you can live up to it.
I'm always game for ESPN Fantasy. I was 1st in my Fantasy Baseball league, doing decent in one Fantasy Football league, and awful in another right now. So, I'm game for this if you need another.
Ditto............that is the way we have always done these leagues and it's sucks at times, but let's not change it. I am with everyone on the playoff structure, prefer #1...............man it hurts to agree with Fade.
It's not ESPN Fantasy. Checkout the site and make sure you're comfortable with it. Send me your email address if you are in for sure. http://www.fblmanager.com/basketball/bobfinnsfant/index.php Check out the site as well.
