Top "Play Of The Year" type catch... Full sprint to the warning track and he stretched out to rob a clear home run then he is kind of juggling the ball to the ground to save the perfect game!
yes very difficult. went over the wall to catch it, came down and then juggled it..ball came out and he caught it with his right hand
It's not like they happen 50 years apart. Randy Johnson had one in 2004. Before that I think was David Cone in the late 90s. Rare, yes, but not "once in a lifetime"
the night Randy got his in 2004, I was at Wrigley Field watching the Giants play the Cubs. Jason Schmidt pitched what would have been a no-hitter (and maybe even a perfect game -- i forget) but for a little trickler up the 3rd base line that was beat out. would have been amazing to have seen 2 no hitters (much less, 2 perfect games) thrown on the same night.
yeah i mean if he just saw it on tv, diff story Fat Wells pitched one. Even Kenny Rogers with the "oh baby Rusty Greer" diving catch to save his in Texas
you're right. I just assumed someone saying "Probably the only one I will ever see in my life." had to have been there, considering how many have happened in the last 20 years--that's all
6. Six times. And only one of those in the NL which is what I stick to during the reg season. What are there like over 2000 games per season 20 seasons and 6 of those went perfect.
