Is ****ing delicious. Zabak's in Houston is a great little Cafe that serves the absolute BEST Falafel sandwich. The staff is friendly and the food is always prepared fresh. Also there is a place in Galveston on the Strand called "Mediterranean Chef" that is also very good. discuss.
Got some baby octopus stewing with white wine and tomatoes as we speak. Love me some old school sicilian food in the summer.
LOVE food from the Med. The best falafel sandwich I ever had was an age ago at a little place in Amsterdam (across the street where Batman was run down! ) in the central city. Have never found its like again, although I keep trying. Greek is one of my favorites, as is Lebanese. If Italian counts, or Spanish, I'm there. Moroccan. Heck, it's all good. Now I'm hungry!
I was going to try some Mediterranean food, but then I realized that I had no idea where it came from, so I couldn't with a clear conscience eat that crap.
Sick. moes: If you haven't been, try Aladdin's on Montrose and Westheimer. Especially the vegan or vegetarian sampler. You won't believe how much food and how many different dishes are included.
Currently in a beach town of Fethiye in Turkey as I type this and I am extremely dissapointed in turkish cuisine and their lack of creativity in cooking. Every place serves the exact same thing! Did just have some of the best Chinese food though.
yes sir it definitely is delicious fadi's is always good. i need to check out zabak's there is a hole in the wall place called house of kabobs. its off westheimer and voss in the miyako shopping complex. best shawarma's in town turquoise grill has good turkish food and the owner is very nice. its off 59 and kirby. kasra serves great persian food and if any of you guys want to try afghani food theres a place called afghan cuisine. its off hwy 6 and voss -heading to sugarland.
I just read this the other day: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/705012 -- Moderate Wine, Little Meat, Many Vegetables May Be Key Mediterranean Diet Items Linked to Longer Life
Darband and Bijan rule- but I dont think they're technically Mediterranean? Whatever the case, they're both off of 59 and great. Aladdins is awesome (close to UH- down the street from Niko Nikos). Dimassis used to rule (the village location used to be really good for the price and buffet, but their quality dropped off big time. Hummus+Taboli= win.
Istanbul in the village is pretty good too, next to little woodrows in the village- parking can be a real hassle tho (then again, it is the village)
I've always wanted to give that place a stab since it's by my yoga place arond the area too. How is mediterranean food or what ... does it taste like?
I've heard a couple of friends say this is pretty good food. Being in Dallas, I've never tried it, though. I've tried Fadi's and it was good. I don't recall it being "great", but I've only tried it once.
