"-Houston also seems to be very active in trade talk, particularly trying to move Tracy McGrady we’re told. McGrady will be out for the first 20-30 games of the regular season, but there is some thought that he might be able to help a playoff team down the stretch, particularly since he’s in a contract year. Its tough to see how many teams would be able to absorb the 20+ million dollars he’s owed next season. The New York Knicks might be one of them. Houston would be looking for a shooting guard in return."

Nothing too surprising. He must really be done. If that is true, I would still prefer to trade him at the deadline instead of the summer.

It's about time, now lets see if we get any takers ! If Morey can work his magic and maybe land us Rip Hamilton, Ray Allen , or any kind of starting 2guard, we are in business for a ring next yr.

You'd think that if he could come close to a complete recovery that his value would be be quite high heading into the deadline. I just want to make sure we don't sell low. Ray Allen is not the answer.

Why not keep him and wait until the trade deadline? You never know, he might play out of his mind this year...

    or not. ;)

Michael Redd has to be a possibility.

Those guys (Bucks) are losing a lot of money, aren't they?

    However, having 2 SG's (Wafer+Someone) and 2 SF's (Battier+Artest) is not good.

If we deal T-mac, I'd rather do it for a backup C and backup SG.

Michael Redd and Dan Gadzuric for T-Mac, Hayes(or Dorsey) and Brent Barry seems like a sweet deal.

Redd and Gadzuric only have 2 years on their contracts (although they're both slightly overpaid).

But they seem to fit in well with the team. We can really use Redd's 3-pt shooting with Yao in the paint, it would be deadly. Gadzuric is a foul prone, but fairly productive on a per-minute basis. Which is good for us.

I have a feeling the Rockets would regret this trade if they did this. Look at Orlando, great 3pt shooters around a dominating big man, and they still couldn't get the job done. What was missing? A guy like Kobe, Lebron, Dwade, Carmello, on the team. We need a guy like that. Frankly I just dont think Micheal Redd is that type of guy. Tmac was that type of guy, but if the Rockets make this trade, then they obviously don't believe that anymore.

I agree, we have 3pt shooters at SF in Battier and Artest (if we resign). We need a slasher who can take advantage of the fronting defense on Yao and take it to the rim.

Also, I'm not a fan of Redd.

Even though I said that, I wouldn't mind Rip from Detroit. I just think he fits this system well because he doesn't need the ball to be effective.

last time i checked morey even said he was on schedule to be ready for training camp, and now this report is saying that he wont be back til 20-30 games into the season. i think they may just have the same thoughts that many people on this thread do about how we should be shopping mcgrady. it could be true, but honestly. if you dont get at least 16ppg out of the sg we get in return(while their injured) with at least a .376 3pt% and an 80% free-throw% and a $23 million contract coming off the books in the 2010 free agency(which we'll be using to entice d-wade) then i dont see why we'd trade him, but im sure we'll get that........

We have real PF's and PG's who played better against Fisher/Farmar/Brown.

    Orlando started Lewis at PF!

Plus, look how well we did against the Lakers without T-Mac.

I would prefer to have a healthy T-Mac. But you gotta admit it's a big risk keeping T-Mac on the cap.

I think we still lack that consistent 3-pt shooter who is so good that defenders have to cover him even when he's not shooting it.

You know though...for me if he's going to be traded...it's going to be odd seeing him in another Jersey.

I mean most of his career has been with us, it's too bad about the injuries and the questioned desire...could have really been special for us and I'll miss him personally...but yeah...we could do better...

    I'm with shipping T-Mac away.
The least thing we need is someone who tries to prove himself screwing the team's chemistry,AGAIN.

If we trade Tracy before the draft I want atleast a top 5 pick and possibly a filler too. No way the team the team should trade him to another team like New York cause I would only want Rubi Boy, Curry, or Hardens in the draft and I think they'll all be gone in the top 5. If we do trade Tmac to New York I would want their pick + Larry Hughes and if the 3 guys I mention aren't available then we get Jennings or DeMar. Jennings has the tools to be great but don't know if he has it mentally and DeMar is a super athlete that could possibly be the one that replaces Tmac for good. Can't wait for draft day!!

Just an observation, but you've been calling him Hardens with an "S" every time you post about him. His last name is Harden.

    ;)
