Very bad idea... IMO... no parents, no aunts or uncles... You'll get a living hell and may even getting embarrassed from the one place you may be away from your parents... don't... just don't.

Depends on what you're doing with your facebook. I wouldn't have anything on anyone's facebook that would bother my parents, so I don't see why not. Of course, I'm a grown man.

It's sort of messed up you have to ask this. What are you doing that you would want to hide from your parents? Seriously speaking, I hope nothing.

I have my relatives who have Facebook profiles on mine just because I know they're up to good things and not trying to hide what they do.

I know it's different for you single peeps out there. Drinking, partying, cursing at each other, etc., are not things you'd want to show your parents. Proceed with caution.

if you are in college i would say its a bad idea

if you are out of school and are just a working professional i dont see the harm


but then again this is coming from someone who doesnt have a facebook account at all

Isn't there a limited profile option when adding friends?

I'd go with that. I believe you can choose what they see.

I don't even have to worry about this because my parents are noobs when it comes to internet stuff. If they were, i think I'd add them...I don't have anything crazy on my profile.

However for my future kids, sorry but i'd want to add my kids on facebook!! :D

Depends on two things:

1 - the relationship you have with said relatives. If y'all are close and cool like that, then why not?

2 - the content of your page. If you have no problem with your family members seeing all your business you put on there, then why not?


I'm facebook friends with some of my relatives - we're cool like that; and I don't put anything on my facebook that would be an issue if a few million people know about it.

I wouldn't really care because I'm not one of those people that hide things from friends or family. I am who I am and I'm not going to tip toe around just because you don't agree. If they don't like it, don't look.

I think that if you're close to your parents/relatives, enough to let them know that your political views are your own--my parents and I disagree on many political views--you'd be OK. If you are on FB taunting people about "aborting is [GOOD/BAD]", "Bush [sucks] as a president" (OK, that one is something no one should disagree on ) or other really extremely sensitive issues, I could see the trouble. Yes, you might be right... my parents would blow their gaskets, too, if they know I lean towards Republican .

Both my parents are on it (although VERY sparingly) and I don’t have a problem with it. So are my in-laws as well as a lot of other relatives.

There are pictures of me drinking on my honeymoon, drinking at an Astros game, and even a few of me drinking in college. But like MB says, it’s who I am and if you don’t like it, no one is forcing you to look.

Everyone in my family knows I’m an adult.

I had Myspace for the whoring around, Facebook for the "family fun". I didnt like the idea of mixing the 2. But then all my family was already on Myspace, so just had a Facebook account for sitting there with nothing on it for years, until people started flocking over there...


There's the limited profile feature, where you can have certain friends only see what you want them to see.
